“Not even a single second late, how punctual.”

It was the next day, noon.

Y/n smiled politely as she took a seat in front of Jing Yuan, “I try my best,” she said as she got comfortable, and when she did Jing Yuan cut right to the chase.

“So, you want to know about the mara struck?”

“And how it’s supposed to help me with the contract with the Stellaron Hunters.”

Jing Yuan sat back in his chair, a smile resting on his lips, “mara…is basically a long-life curse. Or, in simple terms, it's basically a loss of sanity for long-life species.”

Y/n quirked an eyebrow, “I’m…not a long-life species, though?”

Jing Yuan regarded you with an interesting look, “you could be.”

Y/n opened and closed her mouth, but ended up shaking her head, “how is it supposed to help, though?”

“By becoming part of the mara-struck, your fate will be sealed. The Stellaron Hunters, or more importantly Elio, will not be interested in you anymore. Granted, Blade is suffering from the same affliction, but his case is different from yours…”

“I.. don’t understand.”

“Elio wants you for one simple reason. Your fate is undetermined. You don’t follow any scripts or futures. You can carve your own path, and not even the aeons can say where you will end up. By becoming part of the mara-struck, your life will be set. Your future is unchanging. You will be worthless in regard to Elio.”

She looked down in thought, she came here to find a solution so she wouldn’t trouble Dan Heng anymore. But…if she goes through with this, then there is no doubt that she will cause more trouble than what is necessary.

“Sorry Jing Yuan, but this isn’t a solution I can accept.”

“Then there is only one other solution.”

She pressed her lips into a tight line.

“A marriage contract,” he finished, “a working contract is breakable. But a marriage contract isn’t. Well, unless you file for a divorce, that is a different topic altogether.”

She was about to say something when the door was shattered open. y/n’s eyes just about popped out of her sockets when she turned to see who busted through the door.

“D-“

“Marry me!”

Dan Heng said the words loud. His hand was placed over his heart as he held out his other hand to her. A determined look on his face as he kept his gaze on you.

He had followed y/n without her knowledge and had been eavesdropping on the conversation this entire time. He didn’t know who she was meeting with and where she planned to go, but he did know one thing. He was going to be there for her, no matter what. And… about the part of her lying to him about where she was going, well, he will just deal with that punishment later.

“I- what-“

“Marry me,” he said again.

“Dan Heng, you-“

Jing Yuan cut her off this time. His form stood up from the chair as he crossed his arms over his chest, “sorry Dan Heng, but that won’t work.”

Dan Heng sent a glare towards Jing Yuan, “what do you mean?”

“Due to your crimes as Imbibitor Lunae, you have been forbidden from making any sort of contracts. Sure, you can still get married, but a marriage under a contract is not allowed. In other words, if you were to marry y/n under a marriage contract, then it would be nullified, and the Stellaron Hunters would just take her with ease. But, like I said, you can still marry her under normal circumstances.”

“So what am I supposed to do,” she said.

“Well, you can’t marry Blade since he also has the same restrictions as Dan Heng…”

Dan Heng came to stand by her, his hand reaching out to hold tightly onto her own hand as Jing Yuan took a step forward towards her his hand being held out for her to take, “marry me.”

Dan Heng glowered at him, and Jing Yuan chuckled softly to himself, “it Is up to you, however.”

“Marry no one and be forced to join the Stellaron Hunters. Or marry me and at least have some semblance of safety from those who wish to harm you.”

Y/n looked between Dan Heng and then to Jing Yuan. She wanted to fix the problem without being a burden to anyone. And yet, it seems that new problems keep arising…
