Warnings | Blade's new nickname for y/n, y/n decides to ask Blade about his feelings, anxiety, y/n gets herself into trouble because she makes dumb decisions sometimes, etc.
Her shoulder brushed against Blade when the vehicle would jolt forward or hit a bump in the road. And every brief touch made her flinch away from him. Though, the car door wasn't exactly safe, unless she wanted to jump out of moving car of course.
But that wasn't an option for her. Not yet, at least.
"Scared?"
She looked at him. Eyes slightly wide from his voice. He sounded ... concerned. It wad different from when he and Kafka confronted her when she was beside Dan Heng.
Dan Heng...
She bit the inside of her cheek at the thought of him.
When he stepped forward to protect her, she had ultimately decided to go with Kafka and Blade. Dan Heng has already helped her out so much. She didn't want to feel like anymore of a burden to him. Especially since they were together now.
She remembered how she had gently tugged at his sleeve and had lightly placed a kiss upon his cheek.
Her words whispering ever so shyly against his skin, a promise that she'll see him later and to wait for her.
Both Kafka and Blade were surprised at how easily Dan Heng had let her go. But decided not to dwell on the matter as they escorted her to their car. And while Kafka drove, Blade was tasked with keeping y/n company in the back. Couldn't have her running away after all.
"A little."
Blade looked over at her. His eyes gauging her reaction.
She was telling the truth.
"I won't hurt you, angel."
She fought back that small grin that threatened to split across her lips at his new nickname for her, "why is it so hard for me to believe that when it comes from you?"
"Probably because I do want to hurt you."
"Really," the one word was barely above a whisper when it left her mouth.
The question hung in the air for a moment.
"I don't know."
"How could you not know?"
She knew she shouldn't be poking and prodding at him with these questions. She knew he could snap her neck so easily if he wanted to.
But she was curious. She knew him yet knew nothing of him.
"Everytime I look at you, something in me snaps. I want to hold you. But when I do I don't know if the next feeling is me wanting to hurt you or something else entirely."
"I don't want you to hurt me," she said to his small confession.
"Then I won't."
"Even after everything that has happened?"
"Nothing has happened. You just didn't want to sing for me, is all." Granted, it wasn't like i went about the right way to get you to sing for me anyway.
If she was better at picking up the different tones, maybe she would of noticed the sad lilt in voice when he said that.
"I'm... sorry. Maybe... maybe I could sing for you after all of this gets resolved?"
He gave her a side glance, the corner of his lips ever so slightly twitching up before settling back into a straightened frown.
"Do as you wish."
With a small smile of her own, she decided to not try to be so twitchy every time her shoulder would brush against his arm, or when her knee would knock in his own. Instead, she let herself lean into him. If only a little.
Though, make no mistake, she did wish that she had Dan Heng tag along.
"We're here."
Kafka stopped the car, and looking out the window y/n saw the massive building of the Stellaron Hunters. It was a tall skyscraper that rivaled the other buildings surrounding it. It was honestly intimidating to look at.
"Don't be scared."
Blade's rough tone filtered through her entire being as he nudged her out of the car.
"Though, if you wish to run, I won't stop you."
"Would you help me?"
Her tone was helpful as the two stepped out. Her eyes pleading as she began to have second thoughts about this.
"If you wish me to."
His word startled her for a moment. And looking between he and Kafka, who was already ahead of them, she panicked a little.
I should of stayed with Dan Heng. I should have had him come with me. I should of just been a burden.
I can't do this.
It was always in the moment that she would panic and realize that maybe, just maybe, she was way in over her head.
What do I do? Why did I let myself get into this situation? Why am I...such an idiot sometimes?
She felt her chest get tight. Her breathing quickening as she felt Blade grip her shoulder and start to push her forward.
Her limbs began to shake, her heavy heart thundered loud inside her.
I can't do this.
I-
"I don't want to go. Blade, I-"
"Then don't."
When he grabbed her hand, she couldn't help but to wonder in her state of panic why he was being nice all of sudden. When he was confronting her when she was with Dan Heng... he was condescending. He had the upper hand. And yet now? He was taking her away from the problem that he caused in the first place. (Not that she knew that he got her fired...)
But no matter. This was his inner turmoil after all.
To hurt her or to help her. What will he do?
"I don't want you to hurt me."
Her words rung in his ears.
Oh, damn it all.
