Chapter One
...Shoto Todoroki has spent the past two years trying to take down the current prime minister, Aka. Perhaps it was foolish to go after the Prime Minister when you're close to graduating at the top of your class. However, for Shoto, it was personal. Around two and a half years ago, his friend Izuku Midoriya was accused of murdering a man and kidnapping a young girl. Over the following months, things would slowly break down as Izuku became the most hated man in the country.
From the attack on his hero school UA to the terrorist attacks on Nabu Island and Tartarus Prison, Izuku had garnered the disdain of every member of the public. Sakura TV ran entire blocks of television, focusing on his crime spree connecting him to the late Tomura Shigaraki and Reo Yuki. The media enjoyed turning Izuku from the hopeful hero to be to the nation's most hated criminal.
The thought of how corrupt and manipulated the media was made Shoto sick to his stomach. Men like Hitoshi Demegawa should never be able to profit off of lies that destroy the lives of good people. Media companies shouldn't be allowed to control so much of the public's opinion. Despite these thoughts being in Shoto's head he knew he couldn't do anything about them. He was
Shigaraki was presumed dead, but Shoto wasn't so sure about that, Reo Yuki, on the other hand, had been dormant just like Shigaraki the only reason he was assumed dead was the weather. The temperature in Northern Japan had dropped drastically, creating dangerous weather phenomena that split the country in half. The northern half was under a deep winter while the southern half existed in a state of spring with a chill that permeated the air.
The chaos was difficult, but with All Might returning, crime dropped to nearly zero. Shoto's father had been a hero before his quirk was stolen, leaving him a husk of a person bent on revenge against someone he'd never have the power to defeat. Shoto understood that All Might was working hard, and then he had in his prime seeming to be in multiple cities at once. Many nights were spent tracking All Might's movements to calculate his improvement incase he became a puppet by Aka.
Thinking back to the Prime Minister, Shoto took a deep and cold breath. Two years had been spent looking for a weakness, and for a majority of the time, Shoto was under the impression he had none until he spoke to Inko Midoriya. The poor women had been institutionalized by Aka shortly after Tartarus fell. In fact, he had opened up a mental health facility on top of the remains of Tartarus as a part of his restoration plan.
Inko had been absolutely hysterical, but she had mentioned Izuku’s father was a private detective, and while it took some digging and illegal grave robbing, he found the fake body of Hisashi Midoriya rotting away. The fake part being the body wasn't Hisashi's as Shoto had gotten his dental records done. He knew Aka was on to him, and he had seen cars watching him. Time was running out, and he knew that his position in UA wouldn't protect him from Aka for much longer.
The dental records connected Shoto to an address that was home to the seemingly abandoned villa that stood before him. Melissa would have been helping Shoto in person ever since she transferred to UA, she wanted to come, but Shoto had refused. He had come here dressed in a winter coat with a folder in his hand to find answers.
He felt bad for Melissa and everyone who had grown to be dependent on him over the years.
Sneaking over the gate using his quirk he landed in a snow bank which he quickly melted and turned to ice. He sighed, slightly disappointed there was no security. He was cautious looking around at his surroundings, hoping to catch a glimpse of something, but it appeared no one was home.
Shoto walked up to the door and opened it without having to do anything. His body went on full alert as he readied himself for a fight, but nothing happened. He waited for an entire minute before finally relaxing his body and mind enough to focus on what he had to do. He took a deep breath, noting that Melissa's records of the houses interior didn't match the official records.
He walked through a small hallway filled with dusty furniture and the stench of rotting wood. It seemed that Aka didn't make a habit of returning here, which was good for Shoto as he was more than happy to avoid Aka. Yet as he thought back to the door being unlocked, he heard a door swing open.
He created a shard of ice and manipulated it into the shape of a blade before he ran into a room that housed a bookshelf that was opened. A long dark and rather musty hallway cloaked in a heavy shroud of darkness awaited Shoto.
"He's the Prime Minister, but his lair isn't afford proper lighting." He murmured to himself as he set his flame side ablaze, allowing him to walk through the new hallway down into the depths of the villa. He wasn't sure how long it would take, but he could smell what could only be described as death from inside the hallway. Clearly, someone or something was down here, and Shoto knew that if he was right, he would be hunted like Izuku had been.
He had watched Izuku’s life, how he lost everything due to the current Prime Minister's strange and confusing vendetta against Izuku. Shoto started a mental timer in his head as he reached the end of the room where a tall creature stood where a chamber once was. It was clear to Shoto that whatever had been there had been torn off the wall in a precise manner. It had been deliberate but not something Aka had done weeks in advance.
The moment Shoto stepped inside a voice that he was all to familiar with, he called out to him as his fire side faded away. "I had designed this trap for Izuku Midoriya, of course due to the investigation you made, I had to change things and eliminate you earlier than expected." Aka's voice freed from political calm taunted Shoto, his words like small blades that dug into his chest.
Shoto tried to activate his quirk, but he was unable to. It was as if his former homeroom teacher, Aizawa, was still standing in front of him. His teacher was once known as the hero Eraserhead, who could temporarily erase a person's quirk.
The figure in front of him growled, but he didn't make a move towards Shoto, making the half and half boy assume he was missing something. "You knew I found the body." Shoto questioned.
"It was a gift for Izuku, to draw him to this place, but unfortunately, you ruined that and forced me to move my prized possession. For that, you must die sooner than initially expected, it's a shame, but you are replaceable." Aka explained through the speaker system. From what Shoto had gathered, Aka had been waiting for Izuku, and it was further proof that Aka and Izuku had a connection.
Shoto stood tall as the figure outstretched his arms. "You planted a fake body at the site of Hisashi Midoriya's death, you let them burry it, and you hold a vendetta against him." Shoto yelled.
Aka didn't say anything for a moment before speaking. He seemed to put a theatrical approach to the way he spoke and move as if this were all one giant game at Shoto's expense. "You and that Sheild girl caught on quick I'll give you that, you are right I left this loose end open and I've been manipulating the Midoriya's for years because out of all people Hisashi Midoriya deserves to suffer." Aka said, sounding out the Midoriya name as if it belonged to a devil. "Yet this is a game Izuku will play, and in the spirit of that fact, I'll let you die at the hands of your beloved teacher or what remains of him." Aka said as the figures eyes glowed a bright red as wooden tendrils spread throughout the room.
"You bastard that monster is." Shoto stuttered as the realization of his teachers' fate kicked in. It made since why he couldn't use a quirk and why he'd lure him into a basement like he had. Aka had known this villa was a liability and had taken whatever incriminating data he stored here away.
"That monster is your dear teacher, just remember I was truly interested in your career it's too bad they won't find your body." Aka said as the transmission cut out, leaving Shoto to fight what remained of his former teacher.

*Author's Note*
A two year timeskip was something I debated, but I wanted the characters to be able to branch off and as the setting changes from a normalish Japan to a half frozen one I want the world to sort of reflect that status with a darker tone. I hope you enjoyed it and let me know in the comments your thoughts!
