Chapter Twelve
...Krampus was in charge of patrolling the borders of his uncle's wasn't a difficult job for him, and he enjoyed the solitude and comfort to do as he pleased. If anyone stumbled upon the forest, he killed them, women, men, children, heroes, villans, animals to Krampus it didn't matter, life was irrelevant when it came to him. His own life had value, and some others but strangers were only that. Passing icebergs in a vast ocean and if one or twenty disappeared who would miss them.
He toyed with his chains, the injury from his fight with the Abomination had finally healed after almost a month. The original plan was to keep Shoto away from the house, but things didn't go according to plan. Unfortunately, they rarely ever did. The abomination had nearly snapped his chains, instead settling for an arm before Krampus managed to get away with Shoto, bringing him to the home of Izuku Midoriya.
Krampus didn't understand why Reo Yuki kept Izuku out of the fight for so long but his uncle must have had some reason. Out of all the men he had worked for it was his uncle who was the smartest. Even after he had been entombed in ice underneath, Tartarus and Krampus had decided to work for All For One he did not find the same vision that his uncle showed him. All For One was terrifying and whatever he wished for was something Krampus didn't understand.
Krampus also didn't trust the guests his uncle brought around, the European crime Gollini family had sent representatives and had agreed to a treaty for what Krampus simply didn't know. His uncle told him the alliance between the Yuki and Gollini was crucial to ending the Prime Minister's reign, but he wouldn't go deeper. Respect was something he valued despite his affinity for murder and ultimately the decision to associate with the Gollini family was his uncle's to make not his.
Krampus knew that he wasn't a leader, he would never be able to garner the same power and respect as his uncle or someone like All For One. The ability to gather followers, to inspire masses or manipulate them wasn't something Krampus could do. He was a killer, a murderer someone who could eliminate human life without a semblance of guilt on his face. The heartless killer that is what Krampus was at the end of the day
In the distance, he heard the sound of footsteps and wasting no time he used his chains to leap onto a rotting tree to get a better vantage point. This was the edge of Reo Yuki's territory, so it was more common to find trespassers. When his eyes fixed upon the pair of trespassers, a smile crossed his twisted face.
"Finally, he arrived." He murmured as he prepared to welcome the esteemed guest to his destiny. Unfortunately that meant he wouldn't be able to kill but getting one step closer to understanding his uncle made the trade worth it.
...
It had taken a few days for Shoto and Ochako to reach the border of what seemed to be a wasteland. Trees covered in frost were decayed, and a massive fence stood separating the land from the outside world. The air reeked of death, even the frost couldn't fully hide the disaster that had occurred here. This place was as close to cursed as a place could be.
"I'd offer for you to turn back, but I know this won't stop you." Shoto said as he placed a hand on the fence. Feeling the cold metal against his hot side, the conflicting temperature causing a near tingling sensation on his skin. The way the metal seemed to dance under his palm made him feel as if he shouldn't keep going.
Ochako placed a hand on his shoulder. "Despite what you think having me around isn't the worst case scenario." She then activated her quirk, which lifted both Shoto and herself into the air. She was more skilled than she had been back when she left UA as her zero gravity felt like pixie dust gathered from Neverland.
Together, they floated above the gate, landing gently to the ground, which was covered in an even deeper layer of snow. Luckily, Shoto was able to regulate the snow, allowing the pair to continue walking deeper into the forest. "Having you around isn't the issue, you could get seriously hurt." He added. He wasn't sure exactly what Reo Yuki wanted, but he understood that he wasn't doing it out of the kindness of his heart.
"Not if we stick together." Ochako said with a smile.
Shoto went to respond, but from the corner of his eyes, he realized that they weren't alone. With a wave of his hand, he summoned ice to crash onto the rotten trees, destroying the branches in a fury of destruction. Every dead branch exploded with a rush of frost that covered every corner of the nearby area of forest, excluding Ochako and Shoto's original position. Due to his bodies physical age, he could feel it drain his stamina.
"Stay behind me, if there is any movement, make sure you get somewhere safe." Shoto said, his eyes darting around for something or more particularly someone. He understood that even with his younger body his battle senses were still in tact. The fact that only for a split second he recognized a threat meant that the threat wasn't a lowly grunt. It couldn't be Reo Yuki himself, but it was definitely someone high ranking in his forces.
The rattling of chains caught Shoto's attention as he whipped around to see the man who saved him from the abomination. "Ah Shoto you are here later than expected, have you truly gotten younger?" Krampus questioned with a smile. Now that he had made himself known he saw that Krampus had a small girl in his chains wrapped like a Christmas gift Shoto realized he recognized the girl.
"Eri!" Ochako yelled, stepping on front of Shoto despite the boys' earlier warning. Eri was like Ochako's daughter, and to see her tied up in chains in the cold made her maternal instincts flair. "Put her down." Ochako snarled.
Krampus smiled, then shook his head, mocking the girl. He wasn't planning on killing the girl known as Eri, it was well known from the Yakuza Remnants that hurting Eri was an easy way to ensure the destruction of your organization. Reo Yuki and his forces were far superior than the Yakuza, but Izuku Midoriya was an unnecessary enemy at the current time. "The girl won't be harmed, young Eri, Uraraka Ochako, and the honored Shoto are all invited to visit the kingdom of Reo Yuki." Krampus said with a more honest smile. His eyes were open wide as if he were getting a dopamine rush from his bizarre actions and word choice.
"Why exactly are we invited?" Shoto demanded as he put a hand on Ochako's shoulder, silently urging her to return behind him. He knew Krampus was insane, the vibe he emmitnated was similar to Dabi's aura. The chill on the insane, it was horrifying, yet Shoto stood tall.
"You are the one, well let me not beat around the bush, my uncle sees your potential and wants to give you a gift, and with this gift, he has given you an empire." Krampus explained with a sickly stare.
"Why would he do this for me?" Shoto asked, deep inside, he knew the answer, but he didn't want to accept that truth. In fact, he hoped there was some other reason Reo Yuki seemed to have such high interest in him. Even if it was just a ploy, a piece of some elaborate rouse meant to displace Aka as Prime Minister of Japan, it would be better than the hidden truth.
"What grandfather doesn't want his grandson to succeed him." Krampus said dryly, laying the full truth on the table. Reo Yuki wanted Shoto to follow in his footsteps, the path of a criminal. It was similar to his father's desire for Shoto to surpass All Might. People always pushed their dreams onto him, perhaps this is why he was on the path he was currently on. He wouldn't allow himself to devolve into criminal scum however he also wouldn't allow the opportunity to speak with Reo Yuki to pass him by.
"Take me too." He paused, letting the words drown in his throat before uttering them. "My grandfather." He said solemnly. The path he led brought him to this moment, and the only way to go was forward no matter what the future held for him.
