Chapter Three
...

Prior to arriving on Izuku’s doorstep, Shoto Todoroki was engaged in a battle with Aka's abomination. While he had traveled all the way to the Prime Minister's villa he had been stopped by the Abomination who had relocated the evidence connecting Aka to Izuku’s father, Hisashi Midoriya.

Shoto Todoroki hadn't stood a chance against the abomination. Perhaps if he hadn't begun the fight in the basement of the Prime Minister's creepy villia, he would have done better. Despite being unable to use his quirk, Shoto was able to hold his own against the abomination. In fact, during the past two years, he had created a fighting style that could work without using his quirk. It would place him at an extreme disadvantage, but it would be useful if he ever had to fight Aka.

Yet something was off with the Abomination, it seemed to learn from every attack that was thrown at it. Whether it was a table or a punch to the face, not a single attack seemed to faze Shoto. Noticing this, he had gone on the retreat running out of the villa and into the snow behind it. He didn't trust the main roads, and as the villa exploded, he could see he made the right choice.

Wood and trees began to rapidly multiply as the house faded behind a thick layer of advancing foliage. The trees were fast and moved like snakes stricking at Shoto as he ran. For small moments, he could feel his quirk return to him as he avoided the abominations gaze. It was his only hope of survival, and he knew he had to capitalize on that. Every second he couldn't use his quirk was a second he stepped closer to death, and death was not something he could afford to undergo.

"Assuming his quirk works like Mr Aizawa's, if I can put enough distance between him, I should be able to hit him with a ranged projectile." He muttered through his teeth as he jumped over a hill, sliding down using his ice side to increase his speed. As he slid down, he added spikes to the ice to prevent the abomination from using the slide to catch up to him.

Once he reached the bottom, he broke off into a spirit using his fire side to melt the snow and his ice side to refreeze the snow to create a field of ice. This field of ice allowed him to skate on the ground, moving faster than he ever could have before. He had used a technique similar to this back during the first event in the UA Sport's Festival. He remembered how he was neck and neck with Bakugo how the two had challenged themselves to go faster. It made Shoto wonder if Bakugo had lived, would he be the faster one out of the duo.

Looking over his shoulder, Shoto saw that the abomination was catching up as his abilities began to flicker again. The flicker only lasted for a moment, but it was enough to cause Shoto to trip and slide into the snow. His body was buried, but it had the added benefit of hiding him from the abomination's eyesight, which gave Shoto back control of his quirk.

He thought back to the Sport's Festival how, despite using his quirk, he had lost to Izuku. Instead of using his quirk, Izuku had used the environment and his mind to claim victory. Shoto wasn't simple-minded, he was able to come up with tactics to claim victory. However, he wasn't comparable to Izuku. His talent for strategy came from his ability to analyze his opponents to find the weaknesses that would lead to their downfall.

Shoto hadn't anticipated the abomination's next move, perhaps it was due to his reminiscing in the past or being burried in snow but he had no chance to dodge as a spear of wood pierced his stomach pinning him to the ground as the wood expanded cutting holes through his internal organs and body.

Shoto took a deep breath, ignoring the pain that made him feel like he was splitting in two parts. The pulsing and pounding of blood pouring out of him mixed with the warm feeling of it dripping down his skin all ceased to plague his body. He combined both his sides, fusing both of his abilities into what he called Phosphor.
