Kaiju No 8

After the war in the tachikawa base. Hoshina and Kikoru were rushed to the 3rd division Hospital.

After I had restrained Kafka and sent him off securely. I was about to head back to 0 division HQ to get treated myself, but as I turned to walk I temporarily lost consciousness and stumbled forward. Luckily I was caught by none other than the trusty Mizari.

"Heh..... thank you Mizari.... You always come st the right time." I say as she swung my arm over her shoulder

"Of course it is my job Denmon-sama. I have to pick you up when you push yourself too hard." Mizari said with a small smile

"Hehe..." I smile sheepishly

"Let's get you healed Denmon-sama." Mizari said

Timeskip

"Oh Captain you're here too. I haven't seen you in a hospital bed in ages. Maybe I should take a picture to remember it." Hoshina joked as he got patched up by a nurse

"Yeah...." Mina said with her hair covering her eyes

Hoshina could sense that something was off with Mina. She was usually stoic but she seemed slightly frustrated.

Mina turned to Hoshina,

"I'm sorry Hoshina. I failed as 3rd division captain..... i wasn't there when you needed me most."

Mina clenched her fist as she spoke.

"Captain.... Nobody in the division thinks that or blames you.... You were dealing with another much stronger daikaiju.... No one in the defense corps is expected to be able to handle 2 daikaiju in a day...." Hoshina says in a more serious tone

This irks Mina even more as she's reminded of the gap in strength between her and Sae

"Except Captain Narumi and Sae...." Mina says

"Well..... those 2 are abnormal cases....."

Hoshina didn't really know what to say to make his captain feel better.

"Hoshina. I promise I'll get stronger so the 3rd division can rely on me even in the direst times." Mina declared with a determined look

"Yeah." Hoshina said with a smile

I was forced to stay in bed and rest by Mizari so Mina was the one who went to send off Kafka ro HQ.

She walked into Kafka's holding room while 2 officers went to unlock his restraints.

"Mi-"

Before Kafka could say anything Mina walked out of the room while the officers escorted him out.

Kafka completely understood why they were mad at him

As they exited the base they were greeted by the whole third division with a parting in the centre for Kafka and Mina to walk through to the carrier.

Kafka looked down in shame. Thinking they all despised him after his secret of being a Kaiju came out.

As Kafka was about to step into the carrier. Ichikawa stepped out of file

"I have faith you'll come back!" He says with confidence

With that the carrier door closes. Mina lets out a sigh before speaking

"That Ichikawa. He'll be doing 50 push ups for speaking without permission." Mina says putting a hand on her hip

"Mina...." Kafka says turning his attention towards her. She sees her body bandaged beneath her jacket
