From 50 to hero (Kaiju no 8 x Male OC)

Promise

Kafka, Mina and I were friends since childhood. Our parents were all friends so we ended up spending a lot of time together and got pretty close.

Kafka was the oldest in the group, he was 8 years older than me and 5 years older than Mina. Making me the youngest. Kafka was the loudmouth, goofy but a bit of a nerd . Mina was the serious one who had a lighthearted side around those she was close to. I was the reckless, cheeky one who liked fighting.

One day when I had just turned 7. A Honju attacked our little town causing mass devastation. Thankfully the 3 of us had made it out of town safely but we had all lost something. We were currently sat on a hill overlooking our town which was in shambles. Mina and Kafka were both stood up looking at our town in flames I was sat with my knees pulled to my chest and looking at the ground

"It's all destroyed...... Your house, our school.... well not yours Sae. You're still in pre school."

Mina commented trying to lighten the mood.

I usually would have retorted but I just remained silent.

Kafka stood up and punched the air enraged.

"Damm these Kaiju! They made me lose all the progress I made on my game!" Kafka exclaimed

The 2 sat down next to me

"That's what you're mad about?! I'm sad that meeko died." Mina said tears welling in her eyes

"Your 3 coloured cat...." Kafka confirmed

Mina looked at me not used to my silence.

"Sae..... what happened....." Mina asked sympathetically

I couldn't hold back the tears in my eyes anymore, this was the first time either of them had seen me cry. I normally put on a tough, 'cool' front.

"Papa's gone....." I say through sobs

Both Kafka and Mina are stunned, their losses nothing compared to mine, despite me being the youngest.

Mina immediately hugged me, Kafka looked more pissed off at the Kaiju

"I'm so sorry Sae....." She said as she let me cry in her shirt

My sad tears were soon replaced by rage full ones.

"I'm gonna join the defence force." The 3 of us said with equal looks of determination

"What're you two saying?! You're both little brats." Kafka said pointing at us

"You're a grade schooler too Kafka!" Mina said annoyed

I put my face in my palm as my face tenses

"I swear I'll kill every Kaiju on this planet!" I say with determination and rage

Kafka smirks at my statement.

"Then let's see who can become a more awesome troop member!" Kafka challenges us

A bit of my usual demeanour comes back

"As if it'll be you Kafka you're too goofy. When it comes to coolness I'm clearly top." I say with a slight smirk

"Hey! Don't forget about me!" Mina says popping up between us

"Then it's settled....." Kafka starts

"let's crush those monsters together!" we say in unison

With that promise in mind the 3 of us began working towards that goal. as kids we couldn't do much about our strength so we decided to increase our knowledge of Kaiju.
