Before I knew it, regular hockey season was over and while Quinn was still playing in playoffs, both Jack and Luke were off to Michigan.
I stayed behind because I had some modeling jobs to finish, but a week later I was also on a flight to Detroit.
Luke had told me that Emily and one of her friends would be joining later in the summer as well, so I knew I should make the best of the time I had with him. I didn't want to intrude on them as a couple out of respect for Emily.
I had never really crossed my mind to invite Audrey, I knew she had her own familial obligations. She would also not enjoy being crammed in a house with a bunch of people she didn't really know.

are you here?Luke
I'm by baggage claim
I'll see you when you get down hereWhen I walked down to baggage claim, I found Luke already waiting with my luggage in hand, because there was a long wait to get off my plane.
"Hey Luke!" I said walking up to him, while pulling down my headphones, that were currently blasting Taylor Swift.
He walked up to me, letting go of my luggage, and gave me a big hug, "I missed you Ads."
I scoffed, "Well you went multiple years without me," I joked, poking fun at him.
He lifted his hands up like he was guilty, "Didn't know missing my best friend was so wrong."
We made our way out of the airport, and got in his BMW. He claims he didn't splurge on it when he signed his contract because he "needed a car" but when he told me how much it was, I almost spit the water out of my mouth.
When we finally entered the neighborhood where the Hughes Lake House was located, all the memories of playing around on our bikes and walking to the park came rushing back.
I had missed this part of my life so much, but had practically blacked out all my memories from here.
Luke turned his head towards me, "You miss this place?"
I met his eyes and smiled, "Yeah, a lot."
As I opened the front door to the house, as Luke grabbed my suitcase from the trunk, I was met with Ellen sitting on the couch watching a show.
When she heard the noise, she looked over and sprung up, "Oh my Addie look at you. I've been begging the boys to bring you home," she said as she flattened out my hair with both her hands and admired my face.
It had been a long while since I'd seen her at the boys' game.
"Jim! Come down here, Addie is here!" She yelled as she brought me to the kitchen island to sit down.
As Jim entered the kitchen as well, he smiled and came over to give me a hug while I was sitting down.
"Finally my wife will leave me alone now that there's another girl around. She claims us boys always gang up on her," He says joking around.
She looked at me while rolling her eyes, "With the boys and their friends running around all summer, I may as well be a mom to a bunch of toddlers again."
I laughed hard, as someone entered the kitchen.
"Mom she just got here leave her alone," Luke said while motioning for me to come with him.
I got up as Ellen spoke again, "Come back downstairs for dinner."
"Okay mom."
Luke lead me downstairs to the bedroom I would stay in every summer after I moved away.
Or rather the bedroom I would say I slept in, most nights I would sneak my way into Luke's room so we could talk.
When we walked into the room my suitcase was already near the closet, so I jumped onto the bed."Don't lay down in here, let's go to my room," Luke said while practically carrying me into his room, that was located right next to mine.
When he opened the door, it was like I had been transported into high school when I would spend all of my time here.
"Nothing here has changed huh?" I asked while wrapping myself into the blanket of Luke's covers, while he went into the bathroom that was connected to his room.
"Not really," He said raising his voice due to being in a separate room.
I looked around to find the same picture he had placed on his nightstand from when we were teenagers.
He had dragged me to the golf course with him and his brothers, and I'd complained most of the time.
Before I knew it, Luke was also getting into his bed, keeping his distance from me as we caught each other up of what had happened throughout the week we hadn't seen one another.

I didn't open my eyes but I could hear the soft whispers of somebody to the left of me, "Jack don't wake them up," I recognized Ellen's voice.
"But why?" I heard Jack whine.
"Because they're sleeping."
I felt a bead of sweat of my forehead and felt someone's body pressed against mine. I heard Luke's door shut quietly, and wasn't in any rush to get up as I fell back asleep. ౨ৎ
