As Utahime stepped into her modest living room, inviting Shoko inside, her gaze flickered between Gojo's intense blue eyes and the unfamiliar figure standing beside him. "Utahime, Shoko," Gojo began, his voice steady, "meet Ryo Nakahara. He's a retired jujutsu sorcerer I've recruited to be your bodyguard."
Utahime studied Ryo Nakahara, noting his composed demeanor and the subtle air of authority that surrounded him. "Nice to meet you, Nakahara-san," she greeted, extending her hand.
Ryo nodded respectfully. "Likewise, Utahime-san. I've been briefed on the situation. My role will be to ensure your safety discreetly, especially when Gojo-sensei isn't able to accompany you."
Gojo interjected with a wry smile, "And trust me, Nakahara-san is more than capable. He trained my best student for a little while he was in Africa."
Their discussion shifted to security measures. They planned how Ryo would integrate into Utahime's daily life as seamlessly as possible, posing as a colleague or assistant. Shoko chimed in to give her opinion at times, ensuring they considered all angles. "We'll need to maintain appearances," Gojo remarked, his tone serious. "Any sign of distance between us could raise suspicions."
"And if we're too close, they'll get the proof they need," Utahime said, holding her chin thoughtfully. She paused, then shot Gojo a stern look. "Can I just mention how sexy you look when you're thinking hard about something," Gojo said carelessly, causing Shoko to stifle a laugh.
"Focus, Gojo," Utahime retorted, attempting to smack him playfully, only to be thwarted by his Infinity barrier.
Utahime nodded in agreement, though her thoughts lingered on the implications. She knew this arrangement was necessary for their safety, but it also underscored the precariousness of their situation. As they finalized their plans, she couldn't shake the feeling that their challenges were far from over.
As they wrapped up their discussion, Gojo's phone buzzed, pulling him back to reality. He glanced at the screen, his expression shifting to a mix of frustration and resignation. "Duty calls," he sighed, pocketing the device. "Another mission, and this one might take me away for a while."
Utahime's eyes darkened with concern. "How long?"
"Not sure," Gojo admitted, his voice dropping slightly. "The higher-ups are keeping me busy with assignments, especially ones that take me far from Tokyo and Kyoto. It's part of their plan to keep us apart."
Shoko frowned, leaning back in her chair. "They're trying to gauge our reactions, see if there's any truth to the rumors. They must suspect something, but they don't have proof."
Gojo nodded. "Exactly. So, for now, we play along. Nakahara-san will keep you safe, and I'll be back as soon as I can."
Utahime forced a smile, trying to mask her anxiety. "Just be careful, okay? Don't do anything reckless."
Gojo chuckled, his usual carefree demeanor slipping back into place. "Reckless? Me? Never." He leaned in, brushing a kiss against Utahime's forehead. "Take care of yourself, and our little one."
With that, Gojo left, leaving Utahime with Shoko and Ryo. As the door closed behind him, Utahime felt a pang of emptiness. The house felt quieter, lonelier without Gojo's presence. She turned to Shoko and Ryo, trying to muster some optimism. "Well, we have our work cut out for us. Let's make sure we're ready for anything."
As the weeks passed, Gojo's absence became more pronounced. He was sent on missions across the globe, from France to China, then to Japan and Africa. His contact with Utahime was limited to sporadic messages and pictures of ultrasound scans and her growing baby bump. The separation was hard on both of them; Gojo was pent up with worry and frustration, missing Utahime more than he ever thought possible.
Meanwhile, Utahime adapted to her new normal with Ryo by her side. They developed a routine that balanced her duties and her safety, with Ryo posing as a colleague. Despite the charade, there were moments of tension. Utahime found it challenging to adjust to having a bodyguard, and Ryo, though professional, couldn't help but feel the strain of the situation.
Two months passed, and it seemed like the higher-ups had finally relaxed their surveillance. The sense of danger that had hung over them like a dark cloud seemed to lift, if only slightly. Utahime felt a fleeting hope that perhaps things were getting better.
But then, the unexpected happened. One day, while Utahime was at the Jujutsu High campus, she felt an ominous energy—a curse, and not just any curse, but a powerful one. Before she could react, a group of special-grade curses ambushed her, aiming directly for her and the baby. The higher-ups had decided to act, using curses as their weapon to see how far they could push Gojo.
Ryo, ever vigilant, sprang into action. He shielded Utahime, using his own curse techniques to fend off the attack. But the curses were relentless, and despite Ryo's best efforts, he was quickly overwhelmed. Utahime, desperate to protect herself and her unborn child, tapped into her own cursed energy, pushing herself beyond her limits.
Just when things seemed dire, Shoko arrived, her curse techniques a flurry of precision and power. Together, they managed to fend off the curses, but not without cost. Ryo was gravely injured, and Utahime, though unharmed physically, was shaken to her core.
As they regrouped, the gravity of their situation became painfully clear. The higher-ups were testing them, pushing boundaries to see what Gojo would do. Utahime knew they needed to act fast, not just to protect themselves, but to send a message that they would not be manipulated.
As she sat beside Ryo in the infirmary, holding his hand as he recovered, Utahime's resolve hardened. She looked at Shoko, who was tending to Ryo's wounds, and then back at her own hands, trembling slightly. "We need to end this," she said, her voice firm. "No more waiting. We need to show them we're not to be messed with."
Shoko nodded, a determined glint in her eyes. "Agreed. But how?"
"We fight back," Utahime replied, her voice steady with newfound determination. "We show them that they can't control us"
As they began to plan, Utahime couldn't help but feel a mix of fear and anticipation. The stakes were higher than ever, but she knew they had no choice. For Gojo, for their unborn child, and for the future they wanted to build together, they had to stand up and fight
