Utahime had already told her students and Principal Gakuganji about her pregnancy, ensuring that the news spread on her own terms. The reactions varied, but she remained focused on her responsibilities and her growing baby. Everything seemed to be under control until Principal Gakuganji informed her that the higher-ups had summoned them both.
As she stood outside the school, a sleek black limo pulled up to the curb. The driver, a tall man in a crisp suit, opened the door for them. Utahime exchanged a glance with Principal Gakuganji, who merely nodded, indicating she should get in. The unease she felt was palpable, but she tried to mask it with a calm exterior.
"You really ought to calm yourself. You wouldn't want anything bad to happen to your child," the driver said, his voice dripping with an unsettling calmness.
"Should I take that as a threat?" Utahime asked, her voice steady and collected.
The driver didn't respond, but Principal Gakuganji's look of pity spoke volumes. Utahime's anxiety only deepened as they drove through the city. She couldn't help but think about the impending meeting and what she would say when the higher-ups questioned her. She had been seeing a non-sorcerer while she was with Gojo, in what was essentially an open relationship. Gojo had his affairs, and she had hers. The non-sorcerer, a man she had met in her travels, eventually moved to Russia with his new lover, leaving her behind. She didn't care much about his departure; it had been a convenient arrangement more than anything else.
The limo drove through a series of unfamiliar streets before stopping in front of an abandoned building. Utahime's unease grew; this did not look like the headquarters. Before she could voice her concerns, she was grabbed from behind by the driver. A cloth was pressed against her nose and mouth, the chemical scent overwhelming her senses. She struggled, kicking and punching, but darkness overtook her before she could escape.
When Utahime regained consciousness, she found herself in a dimly lit room, her hands tied behind her back. The room looked eerily similar to the one where Gojo had questioned Itadori and Yuta. In front of her stood a person she didn't recognize, their expression cold and unyielding.
"Good, you're awake," the person said, their voice devoid of emotion.
"Where am I?" Utahime demanded, trying to keep her voice steady.
"You are at the headquarters," the person replied. "The higher-ups have some questions for you."
"What is the meaning of this?" she asked, struggling against her restraints.
"The higher-ups are concerned about the identity of the father of your child," the person said, ignoring her question. "Our sources have seen you with Gojo Satoru far too often. If your child is perceived as a threat to the jujutsu society, drastic measures will be taken."
Utahime's heart pounded in her chest. She had to think quickly. "The father is a non-sorcerer," she lied, her voice firm. "He has no connection to the jujutsu world."
The person in front of her raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "We will verify your claims," they said. "In the meantime, you will remain here."
Panic rose within Utahime, but she forced herself to stay calm. She had to find a way out of this, for her sake and her baby's.The interrogator's expression remained cold and unyielding as they continued, "What kind of relationship do you have with Gojo Satoru?"
Utahime met their gaze with defiance. "Gojo and I are colleagues and friends."
A derisive smirk crossed the interrogator's face. "Do you sleep with all your friends, or just the ones with a dick?"
"How immature and unprofessional of you," Utahime snapped back, refusing to let them see her shaken.
The interrogator leaned in, their eyes narrowing. "I did some digging on that ex-boyfriend of yours. You had an open relationship, and he ran off with one of his lovers to Russia. So you're not just a whore, you're a dumb whore."
Utahime's heart pounded with a mixture of fear and anger. She had to stay strong. "My personal life is none of your concern. I am here because I have proven my worth as a sorcerer. If you want to question my abilities, do so. But my private affairs have no bearing on my competence."
The interrogator straightened up, their expression still unreadable. "The higher-ups are concerned about the potential threat your child poses. They want to know the truth."
"I have told you the truth," Utahime insisted, her voice steady. "The father is a non-sorcerer. He has no connection to the jujutsu world."
"We will verify your claims," the interrogator repeated. "In the meantime, you will remain here."
Utahime struggled against her restraints, but it was futile. She had to find a way out of this, for her sake and her baby's. The interrogator turned and left the room, leaving her alone in the dim light, her mind racing with thoughts of escape and survival.
The interrogator paused at the door and turned back to face Utahime. "So you have never slept with Gojo Satoru? I will know if you're lying."
Utahime took a deep breath, steeling herself. "I will admit that Gojo and I have slept together, but he is not the man responsible for my pregnancy. He has only taken pity on me and my situation. My baby's father does not know of my condition, and even if he did, he wouldn't care."
The interrogator's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing her every word, every flicker of emotion. "And you expect us to believe that?"
"It is the truth," Utahime insisted, her voice unwavering. "Gojo Satoru is not involved in this. He has been a friend and a support, nothing more."
There was a long, tense silence. The interrogator seemed to be weighing her words, considering the implications. Finally, they spoke. "Very well. We will continue our investigation. But know this, Utahime: if we find any discrepancies in your story, there will be severe consequences."
With that, the interrogator turned and left the room, leaving Utahime alone in the dim light. Her mind raced with thoughts of escape and survival. She knew she had to stay strong, for her sake and her baby's. But the road ahead was fraught with danger, and she would need all her wits and courage to navigate it.
A day or maybe two after her interrogation, though Utahime had lost track of time in the windowless room, the man returned. His expression was unreadable as he approached her.
"I have confirmed from my sources in Russia that he is the father," he stated coldly. "The man said so himself after we asked him and provided valid evidence. That is, after removing an arm or two. How loyal," he added with a hint of sarcasm.
Utahime felt a mixture of relief and horror at the confirmation. She had used the truth about her ex-boyfriend as a cover, but knowing they had tortured him for the information was unsettling.
"Yet you still do not sound convinced," she replied, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her.
The interrogator's eyes narrowed. "I am not. However, because of your newfound evidence, you will now be released. But just know this, I am watching you."
He leaned closer, his gaze piercing. "Any false move, any sign that you have lied, and you will face consequences far worse than this."
With that, he untied her hands and motioned for her to stand. Utahime's legs were shaky from the long period of inactivity, but she forced herself to remain upright and dignified. She followed him out of the room, her mind racing with thoughts of what to do next.
As they reached the exit, the interrogator gave her one last warning look. "Remember, we are always watching."
Utahime nodded curtly, stepping into the daylight, the harsh sun momentarily blinding her. She took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the past few days lift slightly but knowing she was far from safe. She needed to find Gojo and tell him everything. Together, they would figure out a way to protect their child and themselves from the ever-watchful eyes of the jujutsu higher-ups
