I sat in the hospital room, my eyes fixed on Melia's pale face. She lay motionless, surrounded by beeping machines and wires.
I held her hand, my thumb stroking her fingers, willing her to wake up.
Days blurred together as I waited for her to come back to me. I barely ate or slept, unable to tear myself away from her side.
Her aunt Rosy came and went, bringing her food incase and she wake up. I felt helpless, like I was losing her. I couldn't lose her.
"Baby please wake up," I whispered while staring at her bruises.

Probably if uh neva ask Ethan fih call har she wud'n lose focus and walk out ina eh car
Her aunt blame me fully and I'm taking the responsibility.
Suddenly, her fingers twitched and I sat up.

"Melia?" I whispered, my voice shaking.
Please mek a wake she a wake up
Her eyes fluttered open, and she gazed at me, confusion etched on her face.
She stared at me as if I was a stranger
Maybe I am, I've turned into a stranger.
"Babes a mi eno," I said, my voice trembling with fear of her forgetting who I am.
She looks at me, her expression remained blank.
"Who...who are you?" she whispered.
"Wah?"
"Who are you?" she asked more clearer and louder.
"A joke yah mek b?" I asked and she looked out our hands. She pulls her hand away and tried sitting up.
I got up and tried helping her but she pushed me away.
"Please don't touch me?"
"Melia uh just wake, no fuck round me head," I said
"Look you might know my name but I have any clue as to who you are so stay away from me.....What am I even doing here? Shit, I hope I didn't miss a test," she said while trying to stand.
"Hey easy, you can't do that," I said and she sat back down.
She looked at the IV cords before looking around the hospital room.
"You were in an accident," I said and she closed her eyes.
She holds her head and I stepped closer to her. I stooped down and she looked down at me. Her eyes softens and I spoke.
"Melia you graduate from college. You currently a stay wid you aunty, Rosy. Uh a work a di place way she did set the link fih uh get. And mi a uh man," I said and she looked at me.
