Faye's POV
"Aunt Faye! You didn't inform us you were back. Why? It's been four years! Darn, we've been waiting for your visit all these years. When did you come back?" Bright exclaimed.
We were at my sister's house, and I wished they hadn't seen me. I wished I could just leave, but I didn't want my nephew to cause any trouble.
I was about to leave when I glanced at Yoko at the counter and then at the group of friends I had just met. Suddenly, one of them said, "Watch me get that chick's phone number."
We were a group of five—two guys, two girls, and me. I had met them at this bar and joined their circle.
"No, don't do that—" I said, trying to stop him, but he pulled away and approached Yoko without hesitation.
Damn it!
"I'm leaving. Nice to meet you guys," I said to the other three, who were watching with amusement as the boy confidently introduced himself to Yoko. Just as I was turning to leave, one of the guys said, "Wait... Oh shit! He messed up! The chick has a boyfriend."
Does she already have a boyfriend?
I turned back and saw Bright seriously talking to the guy, his face angry and his behavior aggressive. He even grabbed the guy's shirt. I couldn't stand this side of Bright. He was probably already drunk, and this would likely lead to a fight.
I rushed over and shouted, "Bright, stop it!" He looked at me, his face red and his eyes sleepy. He was clearly drunk.
"Aunt Faye? You're here?" he said.
"That's my friend. He was just trying to be friendly with Yoko. Let him go now," I said firmly.
"Okay, I didn't know you were here. My mom's been worried about why you've been gone for so long," he said, but I didn't respond.
"Wait a second, I'll just tell them I'm leaving," I said, then went back to the group and left.
We decided to go home since Bright was already drunk, and I was worried he might get into a fight with the youngsters. I drove them home in his car. The entire drive was silent, and Bright fell asleep. The traffic was still heavy—damn it.
So, Yoko and Bright became a couple then. I should be happy that she ended up with my nephew, who's been in love with her for years.
I can't explain why everything feels so awkward. I'm trying not to feel anything inside me. I've already moved on. It's been three years, so it shouldn't be like this. I expected her to meet someone better and—
RING...
Engfa calling.
Great, we finally have a signal now. It's already night and the parade is over.
"Yes, hello, I'm driving," I answered, and she requested a video call. Should I accept and turn on the video while driving? I hesitated and stared at the screen.
Why am I so conscious?
I glanced at Yoko's face in the rearview mirror. She had her eyes closed while Bright leaned his head on her shoulder. We were still stuck in traffic, and I kept looking at her through the mirror.
Her neck was visible, and I could still remember those times I caressed her, and kissed her neck. My heart raced as I gazed at her. She was so young back then, and now she's all grown up and incredibly attractive.
My admiration was cut short when my phone rang again, startling Yoko awake.
God. Stop it, Faye.
I stared at the phone, hesitating to answer the video call.
