Yoko's POV
We're set to have our wedding next month. Since it's not allowed in our country, we'll be getting married in the U.S.
Everything is in place, and of course, my friends will be there to celebrate with us.
Before the wedding, my dad suggested a prenuptial agreement. I wasn't fond of the idea, but I understood what he implied. Faye agreed without hesitation.
Once the prenuptial agreement was discussed, my dad decided that I should go home to inform my grandfather about it and, of course, to spend some time with them.
"Are you sure about your decision, sweetheart? There's no turning back," my grandfather said. Uncle Heng was there, and he overheard our conversation.
"Dad, her girlfriend—or soon-to-be wife—is one of the prettiest girls in our school back then, hahaha! But why isn't Faye around?" he asked.
"She's back in Korea and will be taking a leave two weeks before the wedding," I replied, and he nodded in understanding.
"I completely understand that you're of the right age, sweetie, and I can't stop you from making your own decisions. Besides, you've known her for years, and I believe she's mature enough. How old is she now?" Lolo asked.
"She'll be 37 now, Lolo," I replied, and his eyes widened slightly as he looked at me, probably surprised by her age.
"I know there's a 15-year gap, but believe me, Lolo, she's one of the greatest people I know. She didn't even realize Dad owned a company until she visited the U.S. to see me. We've known each other for almost 7 to 8 years now. She also agreed to the prenuptial when Dad asked her. I know same-sex relationships are forbidden in this country, but I love her deeply, just as she loves me," I said, smiling at him.
"I believe that Dad, because she didn't even hesitate to continue when she knew Kit was one of his enemies back then. Hahaha," Uncle Heng chimed in.
"Anything for my favorite granddaughter..." Lolo said, pulling me in for a hug.
After a few hours of chatting, we finally decided it was time to head home. Uncle Heng offered to drive me home and wanted to talk about Faye during the three-hour road trip. We chatted about her a lot.
"Actually, Yoko... Faye isn't really my crush because she's been a lesbian for as long as I can remember. But if she weren't, there might've been a chance I'd have a crush on her. She's not just beautiful... She's also smart. Just so you know, her friend was my ex-girlfriend, so I know Faye pretty well. It's just we aren't that close," he said, laughing.
"Really? Hahaha," I laughed awkwardly. It struck me that Faye had connections with my uncle and Dad, so she's really an Aunt. But to me, she didn't feel like an aunt.
"That's one of the reasons so many pretty girls are attracted to her—besides her undeniable charm, she's also really smart. It's just that she's a lesbian, hahaha!" he continued. It seemed we were heading home now, as I could see the road signs, but I wanted to visit my best friend Marissa.
"Can I visit my friend instead of going home?" I asked. I wanted to see Marissa, I missed her a lot and he agreed.
When we arrived, I told Uncle Heng he could head home since my Lolo's place was quite far from ours, and he didn't insist—he agreed.
I needed to ask Marissa for advice on the best wedding gown.
When I pressed the doorbell, Bright answered and let me in. He was quiet and suddenly called out to me before I entered the house.
