Daffodil! Daffodil! Daffodil!
Kinn was chanting this word in his mind on his way back. His mind was a whir wheel of emotions. When Porsche fainted, Kinn heart dropped to the pit of his stomach. His parents were also worried as Porsche wasn't doing very well in the last few days. Porsche soon came back to his consciousness, and he looked a bit embarrassed. Kinn was supposed to be with Porsche, but he received a call from Charlie. When he picked up the call, he understood nothing but the hospital name, and Babe, Charlie, was incoherent. he was in a panic state, Kinn wasted no time as Porsche was with his parents so he was assured that he will be safe and for Charlie, Kinn knows he needed him, so he takes a leave from everyone and rushed out of the house.
In the hospital, everything was in chaos, with nurses and doctors rushing in and out of the emergency ward. The red light above the operating room had been on for at least six hours. Charlie sat motionless, numb, still in shock, struggling to comprehend what had happened just a few hours earlier. That afternoon, Charlie was sitting on his patio, smoking, his gaze fixed on nothing in particular. His mind was consumed by all the torturous events of the past few weeks. Watching Babe suffer with no sign of improvement was tearing Charlie apart from the inside; nothing changes. If anything, Babe's condition was only worsening. Charlie closes his eyes, taking a shuddering breath, as he hears a thud. When he opened his eyes, he was horrified to see Babe's lifeless body lying motionless just a few meters from him, surrounded by a pool of blood. For a moment, Charlie was paralyzed, his knees buckling as he tried to stand. When he finally managed to move, he fell back immediately, unable to call out Babe's name, his voice choked by shock and despair. His world shattered before his eyes as he crawled to Babe, his hands trembling as he touched his husband's still body. Somehow, he managed to call for emergency help, screaming Babe's name, begging for someone to help. He pulled Babe's body close, terrified of causing further harm to the one he loved so deeply.
Help arrived 15 minutes after the call. The paramedics quickly secured Babe on a stretcher and rushed him into the ambulance, with Charlie following behind. Charlie felt completely disconnected, as if he were having an out-of-body experience, watching everything unfold in slow motion. He couldn't form a sentence, couldn't do anything to protect Babe, and in that moment, he wished he could end his own life. He remembered his vows to protect his husband at any cost, and now he felt like he had failed. Tears streamed down his face uncontrollably. He knew he was broken and couldn't handle this alone anymore. He considered calling his family but knew better; they hadn't approved of his marriage to Babe, and this was not the time for advice or hurtful comments. Without much thought, he called Kinn. He had no idea what he said during the call, but he managed to say Babe's name and the hospital. He knew Kinn would be there in no time.
Kinn arrived 30 minutes later and immediately rushed to where Babe was being operated on. His heart sank when he saw Charlie sitting in a chair, looking withdrawn and defeated. What terrified him most was the sight of Charlie's white t-shirt, soaked in blood. His black track pants were torn, and he was bare feet. Charlie's eyes were bloodshot, evidence of the immense emotional toll he had endured. Kinn quickly ran to him, wrapping him in a tight hug, whispering sweet, comforting words, even though they seemed meaningless. Charlie broke down completely in Kinn's arms, sobbing and wailing like a child. Kinn knew there was no way to console him—Babe is everything to Charlie, his entire world. And when someone's world crumbles right before their eyes, how can they possibly hold on? Kinn was determined to be the pillar of strength for both Charlie and Babe, as he could see that Charlie had no fight left in him.
It was a grueling eight hours, with the red, ominous light above the operating room finally turning off. Kinn paced anxiously, waiting for news about Babe's condition. When the doctors finally emerged from the operating theater to speak with the family, Charlie was drained, his voice barely a whisper, his eyes fixed on the doctor with hopeful anticipation. The doctor, finally smiling, delivered the news Charlie and Kinn had been holding their breath for: "Babe was out of danger; they had managed to save his life." Charlie collapsed back into his chair, tears streaming down his face as he thanked God for the mercy that had been shown to him. Kinn, overwhelmed with gratitude, hugged the doctor, unable to thank him enough for saving their beloved Babe. Just as they began to savor a moment of relief, the doctor's somber expression returned, and he hesitated before delivering unexpected and unwelcoming news.
