Frisk was feeling very stressed and had a sinking feeling that wouldn't be changing anytime soon. He unseeingly stared into the distance, not reacting to Asters giggling as they made yet another flower crown for him.
His thoughts were heavy and filled with memories he had pushed down for years, having tried to fill his time with many things in order to distract himself from his younger years.
It's not like he could go to a therapist and talk about the RESETS or how sometimes he felt he could still taste monster dust whenever he breathed or thought it was on his clothes. The phantom sensation never left no matter how much he cleaned.
He had many regrets and some days he wasnt sure whether he was grateful or hated having such a pure DETERMINATION SOUL, that kept him going through most days despite his wish for it all to stop. He bitterly recalled how enthused Alphys had been when he agreed to let them gather some data from his SOUL the RESET where they looked at him in pure fear flashed across his eyes whenever he saw them, truly hating himself some days.
He was pretty sure he had more regrets then people twice his age had he darkly wondered how old he really was, the RESETS blurring all together after one point but one of the largest one was easy.
Chara
When he first fell into the Underground he had been lost and confused and hearing a voice in his mind hadnt been his greatest concern compared to discovering that Monsters were real. His suspicion was lowered with how helpful the voice had been and he truly became reliant on their advice throughout exploring the Underground.
It was when he finally broke through the Barrier that things began to shift and it was when he was introduced to the power to RESET. He honestly hadn't thought much of it before, seeing it as a way to make sure he gave the best ending to all monsters.
He truly did start with good intentions but it slowly shifted into a game to see the different endings he could get and discovering everything he could.
It was a rush and one he couldn't help but want to do again and again.
That was also around the time the voice in his mind gained a name Chara and directed him to places he had never realised existed. He discovered new caves and met even odder monsters but it was when he explored more of The Lab that things took an even more unexpected turn.
Chara grew insistent he looked through every level.
They grew angry when he left too early.
And they were enraged when he read the journals in the Lab.
He hadnt understood the true significance until he was able to link the clues between Floweys status and the 'young prince' mentioned in the journals but when he had it seemed to change everything.
He had succeeded in saving Flowey and knew how to bring them to the Surface but he felt like something was lit in his SOUL when he realised there was another SOUL he could save.
He had at one point tried to help Chara but the spirit had laughed at him, informing him they were nothing more then an imprint that had no substance. He wasnt sure what they meant but the emotionless gaze when he asked Flowey was all he needed to know.
