Dreamtale

Dream had nearly forgotten just how much energy children had, it feeling like he had been playing for hours and Aster still wasn't showing a hint of tiredness. It was a good thing he was used to dealing with Ink as it felt like very good practice for children, trying to keep off a blush at the thought of that ever happening.

He knew it was a far off dream, especially with how much time and effort it took to basically babysit Ink 24/7 so he knew he would have no time for such dreams.

The Balance wasn't a fragile thing but the way Ink went near feral whenever anyone tried to fix any issues, it was a constantly endless endeavour to keep it that way. It got to the point where they had an unspoken agreement between most of the Balancers to wait until the Balance was nearing the edge before acting. It was far too tiring what they used to do to make corrections everytime it slightly leaned to one side, no one able to deal with Inks feral energy so often.

Everyone was thankful how corrections were now only needed a few times a month at most, Dream dreading the end of this month as he knew they were due another correction sometime soon.

He continued to walk through the forest to continue searching for Aster, hide and seek a much calmer game to play, especially after running about for a good few hours during tag. They had gone through a multitude of games and he was glad to have a small break right now, his powers making this game easy for him in normal circumstances but this child felt so very odd to his senses that it almost felt like they were part of the background.

He truly wished Error had stayed longer to explain all of this or why he even had to hide with Aster but was wary to try and contact Error as the God truly had the most tiring job of all and he didn't wish to make it unintentionally harder.

He could fulfil this small favour but that didn't mean he was happy about it, feeling his phone buzz and slightly guilty he was ignoring Blue but he didnt feel it wise to keep his senses off Aster for a single second. He was just barely able to tell they were in the AU and feared he would completely lose track of them if he lost concentration for even a second, shivering at how displeased Error would be.

He tried to ignore what could be so important about keeping Aster hidden, the Destroyer's cryptic words constantly in the back of his mind and making him feel slightly on edge.

He bittersweetly looked at his old home while he continued his search, spotting new life that had finally sprouted up after his brother's massacre of the land so many years ago, the corruption now barely in the soil and allowing life to finally flourish as it should have long ago.

It was a relief not seeing any traces of the old village, one thing he didn't regret that Nightmare burned to the ground. He still wasn't brave enough to ask Ink how his story was supposed to go and frankly wasn't sure he truthfully wanted to know either. The last time he had stupidly asked why a 'story' can't change he endured a five hour lecture manic rambling about how every action could have an effect on another AU and therefore the multiverse at large.

He wasn't sure how much he believed them but he didn't try asking again. Even just considering asking Error was another can of worms he wasn't going to touch if he could help it, it truly best to just leave it be. He and Error had an agreement to help each other with the Balance but they weren't exactly friends, unsure if anyone counted as one for the glitch with how little time they had spent with other people.
