by the time lunch rolled around, hanabusa karin had fetched saikou megamo to arrange for him to meet with y/n at 1:00, and as the clock struck the hour, she stepped out of her assigned classroom and found him descending the staircase, making a beeline toward classroom 3-1. when he stopped right beside her, y/n couldn't help but ask, "so...what's the plan?" she shifted her weight between her feet. "will you be showing me the rest of the school?" she inquired.

saikou shook his head. "no, no...most of the hallways will be closed to prevent students from loitering around. the only places open right now are the rooftop and the courtyard."

"oh, okay.." y/n replied, gripping onto her book bag's strap. they stood there awkwardly for a moment, the silence stretching out between them.

"so, what will it be?" saikou suddenly asked, breaking the silence.

"huh?" y/n blinked, looking back up at him with a puzzled expression.

"where do you want to have your lunch?" saikou specified, his tone patient but direct.

"oh...uh..." y/n paused, thinking. she wasn't sure where she would feel most comfortable. while the rooftop seemed optimal given her reputation, she also found it incredibly boring—she didn't want her career to be a barrier and come in between things like making new friends, something that she wanted desperately and feared having authentic friends was nothing but a pipe dream, and she wanted to have a normal high school experience. but then again; while she preferred sitting in the courtyard, the thought of causing a scene made her hesitant.

what if something were to happen? saitō isn't here to protect her...

saikou seemed to read her thoughts. "the whole reason why i am bringing this up is because when i mentioned you to the rest of the student council, someone on the committee told me that you were, what...some kind of idol? so, i'm only asking because i don't want you causing a flash mob in the courtyard. i'm sure the headmaster would agree with me." he continued.

y/n appreciated his concern, even if it was a bit blunt. "i would like to go to the courtyard if that's okay. if things become hectic, we can move to the rooftop," she replied, her voice steady but a touch flustered. "is...that okay with you?" she questioned, her eyes wide with uncertainty.

despite always having his lunch in the student council room, saikou acknowledged that he would have to put this off to the side for the moment. after all, a new student like s/n y/n meant new responsibilities & precautions had to be put in place. he's always wanted to bring this school to new heights, especially given its unfortunate past in the 1980s. so, after a minute, saikou straightened his posture and finally answered with a simple, "mhm. just follow me."

saikou led y/n through the winding corridors of the school until they reached the center, where the courtyard awaited them. the courtyard was a beautiful, serene place, dominated by a large fountain in the middle, its water sparkling in the midday sun. surrounding the plaza were several cherry trees, their pink petals gently falling to the ground and onto the benches that dotted the area.
