you, remember that no one can
love you as deeply as i can. we're
meant to be together, forever."

the drive was quiet, an eerie kind of silence that seemed to weigh heavily on everything. the only sounds that cut through it were the gentle hum of the engine and the distant city noises as they passed by streetlights, people, and endless buildings. y/n pressed her cheek against the cool glass of the window, trying to ground herself as she watched the world blur by. how had things spiraled so quickly?
she'd started the day hoping for a normal routine—for goodness sake, she and saitō ryūji had plans to go out for some taiyaki after school but now, everything felt alien, like she'd woken up to someone else's nightmare. 'what a joke...' she thought bitterly, the helplessness twisting her stomach as she anticipated facing her family and explaining what was happening.
just as she was trying to collect herself, her phone buzzed rapidly, pulling her out of her spiraling thoughts.
she blinked, the screen lighting up as if mocking her. she shifted slightly in her seat, glancing toward saitō and the back of the driver's head to make sure neither was paying her too much attention. saitō seemed focused on his own phone, typing quickly with his brow slightly furrowed. reluctantly, the idol unlocked her screen, and her heart sank as a flood of notifications appeared. it was an onslaught: messages from her mom, her dad, close friends, and her pr team. there were paragraphs, brief panicked statements, and dozens of missed calls from the group. as her eyes scanned the names and message previews, she felt her breath quicken. every line was charged with worry, urgency, or even frustration. some messages read:
お母さん (mother): hey, are you busy?
just saw the news...what the hell is going on? are you safe?
父さん (father): call me as soon as you read this, y/n.
マネージャー (manager): we need to prepare a statement. the public and your fans will want to hear from us, from you. respond to me once you get out of school.
but what twisted the knife further were the messages from iku misaki, they pierced y/n more than the other texts. her father's girlfriend, someone who should have had some understanding or sympathy for her, had sent nothing but judgment and cruelty (and the most ironic part of all was that she was the one texting y/n the most about the situation, albeit for the wrong reasons). the h/c-haired girl's eyes flicked over the screen, reading iku's words with a sinking feeling in her chest...
行く美咲 (iku misaki): unbelievable.
you've finally become the kind of idol people actually talk about, but of course, it's for all the wrong reasons.
figures.
do you realize how humiliating this is?
i can't believe you'd drag your family through something like this. all those years building up an image, and now look at you. your fans are out of control, and for what? are you really worth the attention they're giving you? honestly, you're only proving what i've always known— you can't handle this life.
