Chapter Ten: The Past is in the Past

"Xander! Come on!" Phoebe said.

I had gone to sleep when I got back. I had awoken with the Emotion goddess. She was showing me a flashback.

"I'm coming!" Xander said.

They ran towards the forest. Eventually, they came across a river.

"Tag! You're it!" Phoebe said running away from the river.

They chased each other.

"You're it!" Xander said, running towards the river.

He turned around. Phoebe paused. She smiled menacingly.

"Don't," Xander said, "I thought we made up!"

"Karma!" Phoebe said, pushing him hard into the river. The current dragged him downstream.

I gasped, "She pushed him into the river?"

"Yes, my darling!" The goddess answered.

"But that means she might have told us a lie!" I said.

"I will tell you that she did not!" She said, "But you must be prepared for what is coming!"

Just then, Xander shook me awake.

"Elise! Wake up!" He whispered.

"W-what?" I asked.

He walked over to the window and looked through.

"We don't have much time before he's here!" He explained.

"Who's here?" I asked.

"Peter!" He answered.

I shot awake.

"When did he leave?" I asked.

"Around 1:00 AM," He said.

He walked towards the door.

"You get dressed, I'll be waiting outside."

I changed into some jeans and a t-shirt. I went through my closet looking for Xander's jacket.

Where is it? I thought.

I gave up and walked out.

"I'm surprised!" He remarked.

"I couldn't find it! Erin probably hid it from me!" I answered.

We walked out towards the lab. As we entered, I noticed Flame was sitting there.

"Why did you want me this morning?" She asked.

"Peter is a bad guy!" Xander said.

"Why would you think that?" She asked.

"He captured me and Erin!" I said.

"Elise! Where were you yesterday?" She asked.

"At Peter's base where he put Erin and me after kidnapping us!" I answered.

"He would never do something like that!" Flame said.

"Yes, he would, and he did!" I said.

"Are you-" I cut her off,

"Yes! I'm sure!" I replied angrily.

"But, h-he can't be a bad man! He's so nice!" Flame explained.

"And fake!" Xander added.

I elbowed Xander.

She's having a rough time processing, but she believes us! I thought.

"Okay..." He murmured.
