Chapter 16 - Are They Insane?!

(You're POV, beginning of sub-zero emperor lyon arc)

"Say what? One of the jobs from the second floor is missing?" Wakaba questioned.

"But the jobs up there are S-Class. Anyone know who took off with it?" Macao asked.

"Well it's either someone really strong or stupid." Laki pointed out.

"I know." Laxus announced from the second floor. "A little blue car flew up here and ripped it off the board." He informed.

"It was Happy!?" Mira asked.

"He must've stollen it for Natsu and Lucy!"

"That's crazy! What are they thinking??" People from around the guild were surprised they'd do such a thing.

"They've got some nerve taking an S-Class quest." Alzak said.

"I don't know if I'd call it nerve but it's definitely dumb." Bisca replied.

"That's a serious breach of the rules, aye gramps!" Laxus smirked. "Stunt like that'll get you kicked out of the guild! Am I right?" He snickered. "Not that it matters. It's not like those three losers are gonna make it back alive from an S-Class quest." He rudely stated.

"Laxus!! If you knew why didn't you stop em!" Mira yelled, hands on hips.

"Oh lighten up. All I saw was a blue car flying off with a piece of paper in its mouth trying to act all sneaky. I had no idea it was Happy." Laxus smiled. "Besides Natsu's not cleared for S-Class. I never dreamed he'd break the rules."

Mira stood over him, almost as angry as she looks when she transforms.

"You haven't given me that look in a while." Laxus chuckled.

"This isn't good. Well, which job was it?" Master asked.

"For lifting a curse on... Galuna Island." Mira replied. The whole guild erupted.

"Galuna Island!?!"

"Are they insane??"

"They're even dumber than we thought!!"

"Laxus! Go and fetch them at once!!" Master demanded.

"Yeah right. I got better things to do gramps. And besides, everybody in fairytail is supposed to be able to take care of themselves...Right?" He smirked.

"I don't care how you feel about Natsu. The fact is you're the only one strong enough to bring him back!!" Master yelled. It was silent for a moment before someone stood to speak.

"Sorry Master. But I'm afraid I gotta disagree with you." Gray said.

"Huh?" I questioned, sitting next to him.

"I'll go get them. I got this." Gray replied. My eyes shot over to Master to see how he would respond.

"Well... If Laxus refuses... Then alright. But you better get going soon so you make it before they get to the Island, I don't want you or those 3 anywhere near there!" Master instructed.

"Right. I'll leave right now." Gray said.

"Wait wait wait wait. How long ago did they leave?? They could be far into the island by now!!" I pointed out.

"Regardless, someone needs to go knock some sense into them and bring them home as soon as possible." Master said.

"Gray, you can't go there!! It's an S-Class job, it's dangerous! Master, make Laxus go! He's the one who didn't stop them!" I yelled but Gray responded for him.

"(Y/N), Laxus isn't going anywhere. Someone has to bring them back and it might as well be me. I mean not many other people here really want to fight Natsu." He said and no one protested.

I looked around the guild hall to realize everyone was watching us and I was immediately embarrassed because we haven't told anyone we are together yet. This is not the type of best friend behavior they are used to and they notice that.

"Can we go outside and talk about this please?" I ask Gray in a hushed voice. He turned and walked away from the booth and I followed. I heard chatter behind us, some wondering what we were doing and others going back to talking about how crazy Natsu and Lucy are.

We stepped outside and I quickly raise my voice again. "There is absolutely no reason you needed to volunteer to go get them other than wanting a good reason to fight with Natsu. This isn't just a silly game, this is serious! They are in danger and if you go you will be too. And I'm assuming you wouldn't let me go with you??"

"Of course not. There's no need for you to be put in danger."

"That's exactly why I don't want you to go!! Master could definitely make Laxus or someone else go but you go and volunteer like an idiot."

"What about Happy and Lucy? They are in danger too and I want to bring them back. Natsu not so much, and you aren't wrong, I'm not not excited to be able to fight Natsu somewhere new, but that's not why I volunteered." He explained.

"Oh so you are running off to save another girl when your girlfriend is asking you not to for your own safety??" Immediately after I finished I could tell he was just as shocked as I was that I had just said that aloud. I've always told Gray when I do or don't want him to do something whether he decides to listen to me or not. But I've never acted so jealous, controlling and delusional. I knew that's not how Gray meant it but I'm trying everything I have to make him stay.

"(Y/N)." Gray looks straight at me, as serious as he could be. "When I tell you I love you I mean it. I'd never run after another girl for any reason you're trying to get at. I'm going after my guild mates who are in danger. And that's all. Wouldn't you do the same if it wasn't this circumstance?" He asked and I nodded slowly. "I'll say it again. I love you. I don't need anyone else. Ever." He said, his face still as straight and serious as ever.

"I..I know. I just really hate when you go off somewhere dangerous and I'm not there to know you are okay. I know you want to protect me, but I want to protect you too. With my whole being. If I'm not there that's impossible and it's such an unbearable feeling." I explain.

"I understand cause I feel the same way. But if I leave now I might still be able to catch them before they even find a boat to take them there. I promise you I'll come back safe and soon (Y/N). Let me do this one on my own. Okay?"

I sighed, knowing there was no way to convince him to do anything else. "You better come back without a scratch." I rolled my eyes.

"I love you so much (Y/N). Thank you!" He said as he gave me a kiss and immediately ran off. I lean against the wall and watch him disappear.

"Love?!" I hear someone exclaim from the doorway. Someone was listening. Someone knows. I close my eyes and stare at the ground. I don't want to know who it is because there's a good chance it will be someone who will run back inside and announce it to everyone. "What did I just hear!!!" A girl exclaims. I slowly open my eyes as I look towards the door. Stood slightly hidden behind the corner was Levy.

"Levyyyyy! What the hell!!" I yell, my face extremely red from embarrassment.

"You guys love each other?? are you DATING??"

"SHHHhhh!! Can you try to be quiet???"

"OH MY GOODNESS you do!! Awwww that's so cute!! When did this happen?! Why didn't you tell anybody???" I sigh as she spurt that all at me as fast as she could.

"Levy, pleaseee don't say anything. Not yet. It's new and we want to enjoy it on our own before everyone makes fun of us all the time." I roll my eyes dramatically.

"Oh girl, I won't!! I can keep a secret. Only if you tell me all about it though!" She smiled and giggled.
