Chapter 15 - They are going to make fun of us aren't they?

(You're POV)

I stared at Gray in shock. I could not come up with something to say fast enough before he continued.

"I love you so much (Y/N)." I felt my face fill with heat. "I mean, I've always loved you in a way. You're my best friend. But I know now that I love you in a much different way than I always have. And I couldn't admit that to you, or even myself, because I'm too scared to get so close because if I lose you while I love you, I'm not sure I'd ever bounce back. But then, when I realized I've always loved you, I knew losing you before I told you would hurt just as bad as if you knew." He explained. I still couldn't muster up anything to say.

"I've never felt this way about someone before. I promised myself that I never would. But you are so special that you've made it impossible to keep my promise." I was smiling uncontrollably.

"You are one of the strongest people I know; With your magic and with your emotions. It makes me less scared to lose you because I know you wouldn't go down easily. I trust you with your life, I trust you with my own. I trust anything you have ever and will ever do. For that split second I thought we would both die here today, I knew a moment later that even if something happened to me, you would pull through. That's who you are. You escaped a dark guild at the age of 9, piece of cake at 17." He laughed and I joined.

I realized he was wrapping up and I had to come up with something to respond with, but I had no idea how.

"Gray... I um.."

"You don't have to say anything. Nothing has to change if that's not what you want. I just needed you to know." He informed.

"No!! I-I meannn that's not it. It's just a lot at once and I'm trying to process, I don't really know what to say.."

"Like I said, you don't have to. Take your time, I'm not going anywhere." He smiled. I blushed way too hard.

"No, no I do know what I want to say."

"And?" He raised his eyebrow.

"Will you kiss me?" I asked, trying not to literally burst into flames. I watched as the shock quickly fell across his face but quickly fled when the excitement washed over. I could feel my heart beat bursting through my chest, up to my shoulders, through my neck, beating in my face. He slowly moved his hands down to my hips and rested them there as he pulled me as close to him as possible. He slowly leaned in, our eyes locked, breaths in sync.

"I would love to kiss you." He said, his lips only centimeters away from mine. We closed our eyes and he planted his lips against mine, and for the first time ever, I felt warmth from Gray Fullbuster, the ice mage.

I pulled away for only a moment to say, "I've been waiting to tell you I love you for so long."

We approached the guild hall, hands interlinked. "Natsu and Happy are going to make fun of us, aren't they?" I rolled my eyes.

"We both know we will never hear the end of it. I don't mind though." He smiled.

I accepted how I felt about Gray a bit of time ago, but because of his past I never thought the feelings would be mutual, so I didn't want to tell him. It's so unbelievable to me that he was the one that couldn't hold it in. But I am so grateful he couldn't.

"Don't you think it's a little corny to tell everyone by showing up holding hands?" I chuckled.

"I think any way they all find out will be corny." He rubbed the back of his neck and laughed. We walked in and looked around, but it seemed that Natsu and Happy aren't there.
