Mari instinctively tried to grab a towel from the rack to cover up the top half of her body, but Crosshair quickly snatched the towel away from her. Tossing it on the floor behind him as he marched over to her with heavy steps.

"Crosshair, I—"

As Mari tried to face him, raising her hands, Crosshair grabbed her by the shoulders and turned her around. Making her face the mirror in front of the sink as he examined her back, letting out an angry hiss as he spoke to her.

"Who did this to you?" Crosshair growled, letting his index finger gently trace over one of Mari's scars, feeling how thick, rough, and lumpy it was to be touching it.

Mari shivered under his touch as Crosshair went to touch a burn mark on her lower back, making her clench her jaw as bad memories flickered through her mind.

"It's...a long story but it happened a long time ago. They're just scars. It doesn't matter—"

"It does to me!" Crosshair shouted, cutting her off as his hand finally stopped touching her back. Mari stood there silent as Crosshair was pissed just to see the scars lying front of him. He couldn't even begin to imagine how Mari had to endure, let alone survive this tremendous pain.

Soon Mari carefully began to turn around to see Crosshair holding an angry, concern, and sad look on his face.

His eyes trail over to the scars on her abdomen now. There weren't many on her skin unlike the vast majority decorating her back, but it wasn't a pretty sight either.

He glanced up to see Mari avoiding his gaze, hoping that he would step out and allow her to put her long sleeved shirt back on.

While Crosshair was, in fact, angry at the idea that someone had the audacity to even torture Mari like this, in the first place, he carefully stood his ground.

He allowed his anger to dissipate for a moment before placing his hand under her jaw to tilt her chin up, making her lock eyes with him once she gazed into that face of his.

"Who did this to you, Mari?" Crosshair asked, his tone much calmer as he looked at the woman standing in front of him. "Who would dare tried to hurt you like this?

Tell me and I'll make sure they'll regret ever laying a hand on you again." Crosshair spoke, speaking to Mari like he's making a solemn vow to her only for her to shake her head at him.

"I appreciate you looking out for me, Crosshair, but you don't have to worry about that. The mercenaries that I've been held captive from, have been dealt with.
