Clinging to Hope

After their parents left the room, reflecting on their actions and regretting their trust in Veronica, Liam stayed behind with Alex. Alex refused to let go of Liam for even a second, keeping his head buried in Liam's neck and inhaling his soothing scent. This made Alex feel a little more relaxed.

Liam, holding Alex close, called his trusted doctor to come and check on Alex. Within half an hour, the doctor arrived at the headquarters. During that time, anyone who tried to approach Alex except Liam faced Alex's wrath, his composure shattering each time. It was as if Alex had forgotten everyone and only remembered Liam, perceiving anyone else as a threat trying to separate him from Liam. All he kept saying was, "Liam is mine. No one will take him from me."

When the doctor arrived, he witnessed this scene and carefully approached Alex while Liam held him. The doctor managed to check on Alex and then administered a sleeping injection. Even in his sleeping state, Alex didn't let go of Liam's hand, a detail everyone noticed.

Liam asked the doctor, "What's happening to him?"

The doctor explained, "Alex has subconsciously accepted that everyone is trying to separate you and him, so he refuses to part with you. All he can think about right now is keeping you by his side by any means. This may be caused by his insecurity about you or past experiences have made him believe you're going to leave him, which he won't let happen."

Hearing the doctor's words, Liam and their parents recalled how many times they had tried to separate Liam and Alex. It was clear now how much damage those attempts had caused.

"How is Alex going to get better?" Liam asked, his voice filled with concern.

"You have to stay close to Alex until he gets better," the doctor replied. "Make him believe that no one can separate you two. He may also need professional help. Make sure no one talks about separating you two in front of him. If everything goes well, Alex might recover in two to three months. But if he experiences another shock, he could become mentally unstable."

With that, the doctor left, leaving everyone with a heavy heart. Liam spoke with their parents, warning them, "If you ever try to break us up again, I will take Alex with me and never return."

Their parents agreed, apologizing for their past behavior. Robert Daxton then asked, "What will you do about Veronica?"

Liam's expression darkened, a creepy smile spreading across his face. "Tomorrow, on the wedding day, Veronica will run away and never return."

The ominous tone in his voice sent chills down everyone's spine. Liam then turned towards Alex, his eyes filled with love. "I'll stay with Alex and return in time for the wedding tomorrow," he said. "Make sure Veronica doesn't suspect anything."

Everyone left with many questions, but no one dared to ask Liam after witnessing his commanding aura.

At midnight, the effect of the medicine wore off, and Alex woke up. The first thing he did was search for Liam, who was sitting beside him, looking at him with eyes full of love. Alex immediately hugged Liam tightly, whispering possessively, "Mine."

Liam held Alex close, reassuring him, "Only yours." The possessiveness in Alex's voice was matched by the determination in Liam's. They were bound together, and nothing would tear them apart.
