The days leading up to the wedding were a torment for Liam. His parents and Veronica had succeeded in keeping him separated from Alex, but his wolf was restless and unsettled. As much as he tried to move forward with the wedding plans, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was making a terrible mistake. He couldn't marry anyone but Alex, and it was becoming unbearable.
Finally, unable to stand it any longer, Liam confronted Alex directly. It was late at night, and the mansion was silent. Everyone was asleep, including Alex. Liam quietly entered Alex's room through the window, his heart pounding with anticipation and fear. The sight of Alex sleeping peacefully brought a rush of emotions, and Liam's resolve crumbled.
He approached the bed, unable to resist the urge to touch Alex. As he leaned down and kissed him, the familiar sparks ignited between them. The sensation was both comforting and alarming. Liam realized that these sparks meant Alex had regained his memories. But instead of joy, he felt a sharp pang of hurt. Why hadn't Alex told him?
As Liam pulled back, his eyes filled with questions and pain, Alex stirred and woke up. The sparks had jolted him out of his sleep, and he opened his eyes to see Liam standing over him, a mix of emotions on his face. Instinctively, Alex reached out to touch Liam, but Liam stepped back, hurt and betrayal evident in his eyes.
Alex got out of bed, slowly moving towards Liam, who stood rooted. When Alex reached him, he hugged Liam tightly, tears streaming down his face. He cried for what felt like an eternity, his body shaking with the release of pent-up emotions. But when he calmed down, he realized Liam hadn't hugged him back. He hadn't pushed him away either, but the lack of response was telling.
Alex stepped back and looked into Liam's eyes, understanding the depth of his anger and hurt. Determined to make things right, he gently guided Liam to sit on the bed and knelt before him, ready to explain everything.
"Liam," Alex began, his voice trembling, "I never betrayed you. It was all Veronica's plan. She set me up and made me believe I had done something unforgivable. I was so consumed with guilt that I tried to take my own life and ended up losing my memories."
Liam's eyes narrowed, but he remained silent, allowing Alex to continue.
"A few days ago, I overheard Veronica talking to a man. She revealed everything, how she orchestrated the entire situation to make me look like I had cheated on you. I was a fool to believe her lies, and I'm so sorry for the pain I caused you."
Alex's voice broke as he recounted the events. "I planned to take revenge on Veronica, to expose her for what she did. But I should have come to you first. I should have trusted you and our bond. I was scared, Liam. I didn't know how to face you after everything."
Liam's expression remained hard, his eyes filled with anger and hurt. He stood up abruptly, pulling Alex to his feet before shoving him onto the bed. Liam turned to leave, his movements stiff with emotion.
"Liam, wait!" Alex cried, scrambling to stop him. "Why are you still angry? I've explained everything. Please, talk to me."
Liam turned back, his eyes blazing with fury. "You don't get it, Alex. First, you didn't talk to me before meeting Veronica. You went alone, which led to this whole mess. Then, instead of coming to me and discussing everything, you tried to kill yourself. You lost your memories because of that."
Alex opened his mouth to protest, but Liam continued, his voice rising. "And after all this, when I told you not to ask me to marry Veronica, you still didn't listen. Even after regaining your memory, you didn't tell me. You planned to take revenge yourself. If I hadn't come tonight, you wouldn't have told me anything. Do you know how much you've hurt me?"
Liam's voice broke, and Alex felt a fresh wave of guilt wash over him. He had been so blinded by his own pain and guilt that he hadn't considered how deeply he had hurt Liam. All he could do now was apologize, though it felt woefully inadequate.
"I'm so sorry, Liam," Alex whispered, tears streaming down his face. "I've been such an idiot. I should have trusted you. I should have come to you with everything. Please, give me a chance to make things right."
Liam looked at Alex, his expression softening slightly but still guarded. The room was heavy with the weight of their shared pain and unresolved feelings. For a moment, they stood there in silence, the bond between them palpable yet strained. Alex knew it would take time to heal, but he was determined to fight for their love, no matter what it took.
