Keeping Afloat (A Wintumn Story)

AUTUMN POV
I woke up, feeling like crap. I turned to the alarm clock we had on our bedside table. 4:32. I don't need to be up for another couple of hours. I turn to look at Winter who is still fast asleep. I lay awake my head is pounding. When suddenly I feel this wake of nausea come over me. I run to the bathroom and start throwing up. Whilst I'm throwing up I feel a hand rubbing my back and another holding my hair in a ponytail. It was Winter. I'd woken him up. Afterwards I flush the chain and just sit on the bathroom floor for a bit just to compose myself. Winter bring me a glass of water. "I'm sorry for waking you my love." I say as I take a giant gulp of water. He comes and sits next to me on the floor. "Don't apologise, it's fine."

We sit on the floor for about five more minutes. "Let's go back to bed my love." Winter says standing up. I go to follow but as I stand and start to walk I all of a sudden feel really dizzy. I grab onto the bathroom door frame to steady myself. "You alright my darling?" Winter turns back round and is looking at me with concern. I continue to stand holding the door frame. "Yeah just feel a little dizzy that's all." Winter walks back towards the bathroom. After a couple more seconds I feel alright so I follow Winter back into our bedroom. Laying my head onto his arm. Shortly after I fall back asleep.

I wake up again to the blaring sound of my alarm. I roll over to turn it off before letting out a groan. I've still got a banging headache and still feel like crap. I sit up and stare at the wardrobe for a bit. I go to stand when I'm overcome with another wave of nausea, I run to the toilet and start throwing up again, Winter shortly follows holding back my hair. After I finished I get up to go start getting ready. "My love, what are you doing?" Winter asks. "I'm getting ready to go to work my sweet." I say as I start to brush my teeth. "But you've thrown up twice this morning already, you look exhausted, why don't you just take today." I turn to look at him. "I can't, if I'm off then there have to bring in someone from head office as Marjorie on annual leave this week." I say turn back around to look at myself in the mirror, I do look really sick, but I just have to push through today.

After brushing my teeth I get another dizzy spell. I stayed sat on the bed waiting for it to past. Winter comes into our bedroom with a glass of water and some painkillers. I quickly get changed and follow Winter out to the car.

WINTER POV
I suggested driving this morning as there was no way I was letting Autumn get behind the wheel the state she was in. She enters through the passenger door and rests her head on the window.

The whole 15 minute car journey Autumn was asleep, when we finally arrived at the nursery I gently wake her. "My love were here." She slowly wakes up and looks straight ahead. "Why is my brother's car here?" She asks in basically a whisper. "I don't know my love, should we go inside?" She nods. I take her bag and we walk into the nursery at her pace not to make her feel anymore light headed then she is already probably feeling.

We get to the office were we see Reece sitting at Marjorie's desk. "What are you doing here, haven't you got your own Nursery to run?" Autumn asks giving her older brother an cold icy stare. "Nice to see you too, Dad throught it would be a great idea to have me here and have Mia and Siobhan at my nursery." Reece spins round on Marjorie's chair staring at Autumn. "What are you doing here, Aut, you look like crap." He says getting a good look at her. "I'm fine." She turns to me. "I'll see you later my sweet." Before giving me a kiss on the cheek and send me off to the baby room.

AUTUMN POV
I had to spend the whole day with my big brother, to be fair it's not as bad as I'm making out. I'd prefer working with him to Siobhan.

I try to get some work done on the computer but the computer lights is to bright and making everything worse. So I opted to doing paperwork instead.

"Aut, you sure your alright?"

"I'm fi-." I was cut off when yet another wave of nausea came over me. I grabbed the bin and started to throw up yet again. Reece ran round and held my hair back. After I'd thrown up for the umptenth today Reece gets me some tissues and gets out my water bottle from my bag. "Aut, you should go home, everything is fine here." I wipe my mouth and take a sip from my water bottle. "I can't." I say before turning back to the paper work I was doing. "Autumn just go home." He says in response. "Winter drove me in, he's in ratio, I can't go home." I said Continuing with the paperwork. "At least take that bin bag out, then you can get some fresh air." He says pointing at the bin. "Fine."

I carry the bin out throwing it into the bin outside. I did just intend on going back inside when I started to feel dizzy again. I sit down, my back lent the wall, bring my knees to my chest and start to focus on my breathing.

I'm sat outside for about five minutes before Reece comes out. Before he has the chance to say anything I turn round and say. "I'm fine, I just felt dizzy." He brings himself down to my level. "Because you shouldn't be here. You need to stop pushing yourself so much your just going to make yourself worse, Aut." I give him a cold glare. "I'm fine." He sighs before saying. "Yeah because you really look it." I stay sat in silence, I really don't have the energy to argue with him. "Let me just take you home." I do really want to go home. But if I went home that'll mean I'll be on my own. I don't want to be on my own. "I don't want to be home alone." I say back. Reece just looks at me. "I think we have someone spare at my nursery, I'll cover Winter until they get here then you both can go home how does that sound?" I give him a nod and get up. I get into the car and wait for Winter.

After a couple minutes Winter makes he's way through the car park and gets in the car, the whole car journey no one says anything, we sit in complete silence. I don't have enough energy to try making conversation.

We make it home. Winter helps me out of the car and takes me upstairs. Half asleep whilst he helps me upstairs. By this point I'm absolutely exhausted. "Do you need help getting changed my darling?" I just let out a small "mhm" and Winter gets me into one of his hoodies and my pajama bottoms. He lays me down on the bed and the gets into bed after me, laying next to me. I roll into his chest and fall asleep.
