Miliani woke up in the dirt

Miliani woke up in the dirt. She was covered in leaves and still in her pajamas, unable to understand how she got there. With shaky arms, she lifted herself up, the bite looking more irritated than before. She needed more Elijah blood. It was the only thing keeping her from losing it.

She whipped her head to the side, eyes dilating, when she smelled blood. She rushed to it, finding a broken blood bag. The dirt didn't stop her from grabbing it and sucking it dry.

The hybrid was so hungry.

Suddenly, she was thrown back, hitting the dirt with a thud. She grumbled but quickly got up, scanning her surroundings. Nothing. There was nothing.

Until she was thrown back onto a tree, breaking it in half. Through blurry vision, she saw a man stalking toward her. He grabbed her by the throat, slowly squeezing the life out of her while pressing her up against a tree.

"You. You did this to me," he hissed, his vampiric face coming out. The man ignored the way her nails dug into his skin.

"I. Don't. Know. You," she gasped out trying to cling to life.

"Liar!" He roared, throwing her into another tree. This time she felt her spine snap. The pain was unlike anything she had ever felt before. Shallow breaths were hard to come by as he made his way to her, a curious look on his face.

"Oooh, you're not like the rest of us vampires," he taunted, picking her up as if she were a rag doll. He dragged a finger down her face, swiping up the tears that were spilling. "Bye-bye."

He sang the goodbye before snapping her neck, leaving her there on the ground.

When Miliani woke, the world was blue and she was on a couch. She looked at her hands, finding the bite was still there much to her disappointment. It was then she saw the woman sitting in the recliner across from her. A gasp left her lips when she recognized the face.

"Mom?" she whispered. Her bottom lip trembled as more tears spilled down her face.

"Hi, my darling," Koa cooed, wrapping her arms around her daughter after the young girl threw herself at her. Miliani couldn't help but sob into her mother, thinking this moment would have never happened.

"Am I dead?" she whispered, terrified to leave her Dad behind.

Koa sighed into her hair. "Temporarily. You can't die, baby. It just might take a few days for you to wake up," she explained. Miliani pulled back to look her Mom in the face, her arms still around her.

"Wait, how are you here? I thought the Other Side was just for the supernatural," Miliani asked just as confused as Koa.

"I don't know, but what I do know is that I'm extremely grateful to have the opportunity to meet you. Damon has done a very good job raising you," she said, smoothing her hair back. "I'm proud of you Miliani. You are strong. You are brave. You can be kind despite your attitude sometimes. You know what you want in life."
