Separated again, but by choice.
As an initiate Tris Prior had an unusual attraction toward her instructor, Four, and he couldn't help but mirror her feelings. Though, the thought of what Four's true intentions were ate away at Tris so much that she chose to end it all the day she became a Dauntless member.
They'd never really had a conversation since the break up, so it was a surprise when Four started one with her, alone in the training room. That single conversation opened her eyes to discover what actually happened to all her feelings toward him.
