Chapter 11: Paranoia and Romance.

*Ron POV*

Kenny and I returned to the Motor Inn. Ben's on watch. I see Clem with her walkie talkie. She told me it's broken, but I know it means a lot to her.

Clementine: You're back. Ben found some stickers in a drawer, and I put them on my walkie.

Ron: Hey, sweetheart. That's neat. I'll find you in a minute.

Clem nods and goes back to doing her own thing. I knock on the door to Lilly's room.

Kenny: Look's like we got the kid on watch again.

Lilly: What did you get?

Lilly takes the rifle I had and gives me my handgun.

Kenny: We might as well leave a sign out that says "The men are gone, come and rape our women and children

Kenny: We might as well leave a sign out that says "The men are gone, come and rape our women and children."

Lilly: Ha. So, what did you get?

Ron: Just what was left.

Kenny: Which is a lot actually. Take a look. We're FINE, by the way.

Lilly: Good, we keep this up, we'll get through the winter?

Kenny: The winter? We'll freeze our asses off here.

Lilly: Because piling into an RV with you two, after what you did to my dad, is so appealing.

Ron: We have to go eventually, Lilly.

Lilly: We don't have to do anything.

Things are coming to a head, but luckily, I side with Kenny. He's my best friend, and we always have each other's backs. Eventually, Lilly tells us to get out.

Ron: She'll get over it.

Kenny: She's right about one thing. None of this is getting any easier.

Carley: Well, Ron, I think you did good today. And I think that most days.

Ron: Thanks.

Carley touches my face and suggests I talk to Lilly about the stolen supplies, before offering to talk when I get a minute. I enter Lilly's room.

Lilly: I'm sorry.

Ron: You don't have to apologize.

Lilly: Did you come in here to give me hell or to coddle me?

Ron: Look, I think you haven't been sleeping. Why are you so hellbent on supplies being stolen?

Lilly then tells me about how the counts off and it's good stuff. Antibiotics, oxy, anything with opium, and she has a broken flashlight to go on.

Ron: Alright. I'll poke around.

I exit Lilly's room and Duck wanted to help. I let him but he can't tell anyone. He starts looking around. I went up to Carley.

Carley: Talk to Lilly, yet?

Ron: Yeah. She thinks that supplies have been walking away. There's some broken equipment too.

Carley: What I wanted to say was, I've been thinking a lot. About you.

Ron: I think about you too.

Carley: *blushes* Our group is small.

Ron: You're small.

Carley: I... Suppose I better say this. I like you Ron. Hell, I may even go as far as to say I love you.

Ron: Really... I... Love you too, Carley. Since we met.

After some talk, Carley kisses my lips. I kissed her back, my hands around her waist.

Carley: *whispers* Don't call me small.

Ron: I'll talk to you later, then.

Carley: I'll talk to YOU later.

I head down the stairs to check on Clem.

Ron: Hey, Clementine.

Clementine: Hey, Ron.

Ron: What's that you're working on?

Clementine: It's called a leaf rubbing. My teacher showed me how to do them when we went to the botanical gardens once.

Clem shows me the results of her rubbing.

Ron: Now that's really something.

Clementine: I'll make one for you too!

Ron: Do you like it here?

Clementine: I don't LIKE it here.

Ron: Do you want to leave?

Clementine: Where would we go?

Ron: Somewhere else.

Clementine: I don't know. Maybe if I knew where?

Ron: Yeah, that would be good to know. Well, I'll talk to you later, Clem.

Clementine: Okay.
