Chapter 36: Happy Birthday BabyGirl

Aiden

Six Months Later

"We're planning a party for my child, not for you." I snap at Adam.

"Chill Father, It was a joke." Adam laughed. I pushed him and the cart around the aisles of Toys R' Us. "Just get her the black Barbie doll or something like that, it's what Beth and I are getting her." I frown, "I'm her father, I wanna get her something she can keep." Adam puts his hand on my shoulder, "Bro, she's turning one, not ten. It I will be okay if you get her a doll." I sigh, and pick up a brown baby doll. I frown when I see the white baby doll right next to the brown one.

"This one looks more like her than this one."

As much as I loved my daughter, I didn't want to discriminate or make her have a choice of picking white dolls, because she was part white. It didn't matter is she was half black and half white; I would still wouldn't want to think she had to get those kinds of dolls, because that's how she looked.

"Doesn't matter, it's a doll," He takes the doll from my hand. "I say you get both." I make up my mind, grabbing the two dolls I set them in the cart full of pink decorations. "Let's hope when you have another kid, it will be a boy." Adam said. I look at him, "Why?" He shrugs, "Because I'm sure I'll have a son by then and they can play together," he nudges me.

"Little Aiden and Adam Jr playing football just like their dads."

I smirk at his comment. His imagination was every best friend's dream. "I doubt Beth is going to let you name the kid Adam Jr."

I knew Beth, and as much Adam was strong and masculine, Nia got her feistiness partly from Beth. Beth will probably take charge when it comes to children, and Adam was going to let her, because he loves her.

"Ever since I put a ring on it, she will do anything. Even surprise me with—"Oh I don't wanna know anymore." We find Nia and Beth in the same place we left them, in the baby clothes. "Your fiancé is being nasty." I tell Beth. She turns around and leans into him.

"Nasty How?" They both laugh when Nia fake gags, "Don't start with that please, we are in a children's store."

Beth smirks, "And how are babies made?" Nia frowns and we move on.

She shows me the clothes she picked and I agreed for her to buy them.

"Does she even like the color purple?" Nia asked me.

With Hope almost turning one, we both wanted the best. Her attempt at talking was improving and she could speak some. I was the happiest man alive when I heard her first word and witnessed her first steps. Those nine months of her life were the best. She grew up so much in that time and I felt proud to have experienced every moment with her. I would have been devastated if missed her first anything. She is my first and only child right now; I don't wanna miss a thing.
