Today is the day that I am moving to my new school. I breathed in an anxious breath, thinking about all the new people I'm going to have to meet. I don't want to think about it much because there's nothing I can do to change this situation, but there's one lingering thought in the back of my mind: I could meet my soulmate here. I glance at the red string attached to my finger. With that thought motivating me, I quickened my pace as I stepped onto campus.I reread my schedule for the hundredth time, making sure the classroom in front of me is the correct one. There were some kids lingering outside. Not wanting to look awkward, I quickly hurried into the classroom and didn't take much of a glance as I took a seat at the back. I began to quietly observe my surroundings and the few people in the room. There was a girl dressed in red with two long, brown ponytails. There was also a short boy dressed in stripes. My eyes wandered to the seat a column over and a couple rows ahead of me. There was a boy with purple hair and a checkered scarf.
I sigh as I check the red string attached to my finger out of habit, and glance to where I expected to see no end. However, this time was different. I blink and squint my eyes in disbelief. I could see the end of my string. And it was attached to the boy with the purple hair! My heartbeat rose in panic as I wondered what to do. Should I say something? I don't think he's noticed yet. I breathe deeply and slowly gather my courage to say something. With my heart pounding out of my chest, I shakily get up and walk to the front corner of his desk. He looks up at me inquisitively. I hold up my hand near my face so he can see my string. "I just wanted to let you know, we're soulmates." That's all I said as I slid walked back to my desk and looked out the window. If I had said any more, I would've cried. I glance back at the boy to see his reaction. He was staring at me wide-eyed before getting up and walking over to me.
He puts his hands on my desk and I look up at his deep purple eyes. He looks so handsome. "Wow! So if it isn't my long lost soulmate!" He said with a wide grin on his face. "You're lucky to have me as your soulmate, because I'm the Ultimate Supreme Leader!"
"What?" I replied, confused because I didn't expect this personality from such a cute boy.
"You heard me. My name's Kokichi Oma. What's yours?"
"I'm (Y/N)," I answer hesitantly, still baffled by the person in front of me.
"You're the new student, right? Right?" Kokichi looked excited. "I'm totally gonna embarrass you on your first day here," he laughed.
My heart sank with those words. This was quickly becoming a nightmare. What did I do to deserve this? "Please don't..." I utter.
"Awwe, did you think I was serious? If you're going to get to know me better than you'll have to know that I lie a lot."
"Great," I sigh as I watch people file into the classroom. "Class is about to start, you should go to your seat now."
"Fiiine. But I'll be bothering you after class."
And what a class it was. With my introduction, word quickly got around that Kokichi is my soulmate. I was a bit unsure about his personality, but at least he's cute. And I guess playfulness isn't too bad, right? There was a break after class, and Kokichi wanted to show me around campus.
"And this here is the cafeteria, where most students hang out!" He pointed. As I observed, I learned that he does truly care about the people close to him. He really just wants to cheer people up with his playfulness.
I reach out to hold his hand and intertwined our fingers. "Thanks for showing me all this," I blush and smile sweetly. I could see a bit of blush on his face with a moment of surprise that's quickly covered by a smile. "Of course! Just for you, soulmate!"
He's really cute when he smiles.
