'I've been having a hard time adjusting. I had the shiniest wheels, but now they're rusting. I didn't know if you'd care if I came back. I have a lot of regrets about that. Pulled the car off the road to the lookout. Could follow my fears down. And maybe I don't quite know what to say, but I'm here in your doorway. I just wanted you to know, that this is me trying.'
I woke up with the sun going into my green eyes and I smiled and shot out of bed to do my hair and dressed I clipped the clip in my hair to do half up half down and smiled at myself in the mirror adjusting my necklace from olive a bit.
I got all my books together and my chalkboard and wrapped the chalk in a cloth wrapping a leather buckle around all of it to securely carry.
"Lexi!"I heard my mother yell from the bottom of the stairs as I tied my shoes.
I let out a shaky breath pressing some of my flyaways away and I smiled at how good I looked.
I made my way down the stairs but forgot something so I went right back up confusing my parents they both laughed and talked about their first day seeing each other in school instead.
I came back down the stairs with my books in my hands." well, I expect it's perfectly normal to be nervous on your first day, of a new school, but I'm sure everything will be fine."I rambled to them and they both smirked at each other.
"you know second days of new schools are the best because-"my father started but I interrupted him knowing the story.
"because that's the day you both met yeah I know but I do not want to meet a boy," I said and my father scoffed looking at my mother.
"that's what your mother said also, then it was since then we were school enemies then just like that we fell in love." my father said spinning my mother around slightly and dancing with her in the kitchen I smiled at them wanting a relationship like that.
"Besides, Ruby says that most of the boys have already been taken since Ruby has taken dibs on Gilbert Blythe, a girl named Josie Pye has taken dibs on a boy named Billy Andrews I think, "I said and my mother sighed shaking her head.
"I remember your father had a million girls crushing on him in that town but he chose me don't let anyone get you down but if they don't let them see it cause you're a Hope."my mother said and I nodded.
A knock erupted on the door and I got up from my seat and answered it to see Ruby." are you ready, Lexi." she said excitedly.
"of course," I said grabbing my books and placing a kiss on both of my parent's cheeks but not without my father yelling before I closed the door.
"if anyone does anything to you let me know," he said before I closed the door and rolled my eyes.
Ruby linked her arms with mine as we walked to school and I waved by to wish who was in the pasture my father must've let her in there this morning.
We turned the corner as many others did at the same time and we all saw each other and smiled.
I and Ruby looked at each other and walked through the door many people's eyes going to me.
me and ruby set down our stuff and she quickly introduced me to the girls" Anne!" Diana yelled over the chaos and walked toward the girl and I smiled at her.
me and Ruby looked at each other nervous to meet the girl." what has she done to her hat." Ruby whispered to the others and I smirked and nodded wanting to go along with it.
Me and ruby were hidden behind the other girls as they gushed over me and my accent since I introduced myself to them that's all they had been talking about.
