'Can't live another minute bleedin' from my back. Cause I don't have another one for you to stab. And I don't wanna have another heart attack. Oh, I can't be your lover on a leash. Every other week, when you please. Oh, I can't be the kiss that you don't need. The lie between your teeth. The cut that always bleeds.'

I sat outside near the stream thinking about this morning it still scares me even though I talked it over with Ruby I was glad that I could talk to Gilbert Blythe like a normal person instead of the other girls who couldn't talk to him.

I saw Gilbert walk up to me and gave him a little smile." hey, um, I, uh, thought you might like to try one. They're from our orchard. They're real sweet." he said handing me a red apple which is my favorites but I didn't want to risk it with ruby so I didn't take it.

I looked at him and gave him a small smile then stood up." sorry I only eat green apples."I said and walked away from him but I knew he could tell it was a lie I hated green apples they were way too sour.

I was in the classroom and I was solving equations on my board when I felt something was thrown at me but I ignored it knowing exactly who threw it.

He threw something else and I looked at Ruby who looked at me with wide eyes and I mouthed to her.' why won't he just give up already.' she slightly laughed and shook my head rolling my eyes.

he slowly made his way over to me setting the apple on the corner of my desk before kneeling." whoops." he whispered."hey."I ignored him not wanting to get in trouble.

He pulled a strained of my hair."  Hope!" he whispered and I turned to him.

"I'm not talking to you!"I yelled smacking him across the face with my board my parent's love story flashing through my eyes.

Everyone gasped as I stood there in shock and I looked down at my broken board and gasped in shock, great I don't deserve to have my last name be hope right now I let a boy know he got to me but I couldn't help myself."you just did." he smirked at me I had tears in my eyes as I stood there in shock and embarrassment.

"Hope!"Mr. Phillips yelled."get up here now!" he yelled again"What a vicious display!"I set my board down and began walking to the front as Ruby stared at me in shock still."I don't think your father would be pleased to hear about this. unacceptable!" he yelled as he wrote my name on the board and told me to turn to face everybody."Lexi Hope has a very bad temper." he said as he wrote it on the board tears going in my eyes as everybody was laughing at me except for four people Anne, Diana, Ruby, and Gilbert knowing this was his fault." now stay put. and the rest of you pipe down!" he yelled and I flinched thinking about this morning. "Let this serve as a lesson to you that we do not tolerate such displays of temper, here in a civilized society," he said acting as if England had nothing over them which it did for first the teachers weren't as mean. That's what I wanted to say to him but didn't.

"it was my fault."Gilbert stood up from his seat and I looked over at him betrayal written in my eyes." sir, I, um...i-i teased her." he said explaining it.

"quiet, Blythe. That is hardly an excuse." he said and the class started to chuckle."quiet, all of you, and return to your lesson." Gilbert ast back down."thirty minus six, divided by three equals..."

I raised my head high and started to walk away from the board slowly." where do you think you're going?" he asked."get back here." his voice was faded now I couldn't think about anything right now everyone just looked at me as I held my head high."Hope!" he yelled but again it was faded.

I grabbed my hat and coat and one of my books leaving the rest behind it was my trick book.

I ran out of the school running back home.
