Third place.

'Third place' is a term by US sociologist Ray Oldenburg in his 1989 book 'The Great Good Place'. It is a place outside your workspace and home space; a place where you can relax and hang out. Many people have a library, a restaurant, club, or bar. My third place is a small cozy cafe called 'Cafe Oasis'.

The Cafe Oasis is one of the two cafes in Suncrest, a small town on the coast of New Zealand where everyone knows everyone. The other cafe in Suncrest is 'The Coffee Shack' more popular and bigger than The Cafe Oasis. Cafe Oasis and The Coffee Shack are completely different.

The Café Oasis is a small café in between The Lady Maria Art Studio and The Henry Street Apartment on the corner of Henry Str. and 6th Street.

The front of the cafe is a sage green with two display windows displaying cakes and pastries sold inside. Above the door the name of the cafe is written in a gold cursive font. There are two beige round tables with a flower vase in the middle. The tables are paired with white chairs that have small flowers and swirls on them. On the walls there are plants and vines hanging along with the two pot plants beside the door, it gives a natural feel.

When you walk inside the first thing you see is the counter with chalk menu boards on the baby blue wall. The counter is white, matching the color of the chairs inside and outside. On the counters there are cakes and pastries on display ready to be sold. Usually, there are three people working: one taking a break or working, another making the orders, and the last one is most likely James the owner taking orders.

The wall on the right side of the counter is a red brick wall. In the corner by the window is a hanging brown egg chair with a sign on top that reads 'Mj's spot.' and a small side table on one side and a bookcase on the other. Infront of the Egg chair is an emerald, green bean bag chair that hugs you when you sit.

The wall on the left side of the counter has a small white door that leads to the bathroom. Around the door is a blue ocean-like mural with whale sharks swimming across the wall with a signature 'Mj Grey' in the top corner. There are six beige tables that are the same as the ones outside with chairs that match the design of the ones outside but are all different colors.

The Coffee Shack is a bigger café that is in the middle of Suncrest.

On the front of the café are two black-frame windows and a red double door. Above the door the name of the café is written in red neon lights. There are ten dark wooden tables with red and black chairs in front of the café.

When you walk in the left wall is black with posters and signatures of artists that have played at the café along the wall are red booths with stickers and more signatures
