"Don't you think you are smiling a lot these days Ani?" My senior, Captain Bakshi asks and I shake my head with a smile. Yes, I am smiling a lot these days and the reason is Dhairya. After that library incident, I never got to see her and then I came to Rajasthan for my posting. We didn't talk for a month and I never messaged her. The reason was that I was too scared to make the move, I don't want her to think of me as a stalker or someone who is hitting on her. But, she messaged me herself yesterday and also ignored me LOL. I think that she is thinking the same way as I am.

"It's a girl isn't it?" He teasingly asks, munching on the nasty namesake chapati that the mess cook makes. I don't even know why I am eating this stuff when I know how to cook. The daal is too watery, the rotis are as hard as stones and sweet dishes? Well, there is nothing sweet about them.

"Sahi hai, you also go to family quarters", he says, shaking his head. I scoff and mumble, "Funny enough. I'm not going to family quarters. I just got my first posting".

He laughs and pats my shoulder saying, "That's the perfect time. First postings are never too dangerous". I sceptically look at my senior who just can't stop laughing at me. How does every single one here know that I am smiling because I like someone? It can't be that obvious right?

"Just admit that you are so happy because it's a girl", he further says and takes a sip of the masala chai he ordered as soon as we stepped in the mess. I roll my eyes again and say, "Sir, how are you so interested in my love life? What happened to my sister in law? You are eating breakfast in the mess today?"

Captain Bakshi glares at me saying, "Don't ask about her". I smirk at my victory thinking that he wouldn't interrogate me further on my smile but why would he leave me? From the past month, he has started considering me as his younger brother, not that I complain. I enjoy his company and even his wife's. Sister in-law cooks really delicious food and their daughter entertains me enough.

"I see, you both had a quarrel and that's why you are interested in taking your frustration on me", I teasingly say and to show off, I skilfully use the fork to eat the namesake cutlet but I gag. Captain laughs at me while I glare at him.

"Technically yes", he affirms and I nod. I knew it! In my entire life all I have done is solve problems, be it my friends, my parents and now my seniors. Is this my fate?

"And it was your fault", I ask, wiping my hands with a tissue. He nods again and I shake my head. Why do these guys trouble their wives? And then they act weird in the workplace. They shouldn't test the patience of women because we all know that no matter whatever happens only they take the decisions of the house.

"Congratulations Captain, you are homeless", I tease with a grin. He throws a nasty glare at me mumbling, "I'll tell when you get married". I shrug because I am not getting married any time soon. And if I do then I won't give any chance to my wife to throw me out of my house.
