SASUKE'S POV
Gaara let us stay in a pretty nice hotel. We got three rooms. One for each team. Each room had three beds and a blow up. I wouldn't think that Gaara expected this many people to come. But one question wouldn't leave my mind. 'Who is Kitsune? Maybe Shikamaru could help. And did Naruto already leave or was Gaara lying?' These question kept bugging me. Which caused me to leave and walk around the village. I left my hitai-ate in the room. There weren't very many people out since it was quite late. But one thing or someone caught my eye. Kitsune. He was walking down the road, then he walked up the wall of a house and started roof jumping. I started following him. He seemed to want to escape prying eyes. Kitsune ran towards the Kazekage building and sat on the roof above a window. I hid behind a building as I saw Gaara use his sand to sit beside Kitsune. I snuck a bit closer to hear them talk. "-you shouldn't stay up working."
"GAARA! Y-you know I can't... th-the dreams..."
"I know."
Gaara sighs as he stands up. "At least tonight, don't go training."
Kitsune nods. "Ok Panada."
Gaara sighs at the nickname and goes back inside. Leaving Kitsune alone on the roof. I continued watching until I realized that nothing was going to happen.
^w^ !TIME SKIP TO MORNING! ^w^
When I woke up, Kakashi and Sakura were already up. "Morning Sasuke-kun!"
"Hn"
"Today we're going to see if we can find what's up with that Kitsune guy," Kakashi says. I nod and we all head out. We wander around Suna until we come across a hidden training ground. Two people were sparring in the center. Close to where they are standing is two water bottles, a kitsune mask, a jacket and poncho. I walk over and pick up the mask. "This is Kitsune's," I whisper. "Try again!" We hear someone shout.
"Ok ok, geez woman!" Says the other, otherwise known as Kitsune.
"Na-" the first person gets cut off by a hand slapped to their face. "Why'd you do that?"
"Don't say my name here," the second guy hissed. He then turned to us. His hand covering his face. "Well well well, why are you here?" asked Kitsune coldly. The three sweat dropped, while searching for an excuse. "Leave them be, Kit. They're leaving Suna later anyways.
"Fine. Oh and Temari, can you get my mask?" She nods and goes to get it. "So, you're Konoha ninja, huh?" Kitsune asks as he puts his mask on.
"And you're Kitsune, are you a mercenary?" Kakashi asks. Kitsune shakes his head, no. Then he replies, "Not yet, but I'm hopping I can become one."
"I see."
Kitsune nods and walks away, with Temari following in suit behind him. "Remember when Kitsune interrupted Temari? About not saying his name out here? What if he's Naruto?" I mutter.
"No no! Sasuke-kun! Naruto isn't a good shinobi at all!" Sakura insisted. 'But...there's that possibility...'
GAARA'S POV
I hear Naruto and Temari laughing their butts off. "Did you see them?! They looked so scared!" Naruto exclaims, before doubling over in laughter. "Kakashi looked like he was gonna piss his pants!" Temari adds, also laughing. I clear my throat as to remind them that they have reached home. "Ah! Panda-chan! You should have seen the Konoha ninja! They looked so weak!" Naruto yells, slinging his arm over me. I of course knew that Naruto still had a small, teeny tiny, ity bity crush on Sasuke, but he doesn't show it. "Gaara! You have the rest of the day off?" asks Kankuro as he walks through the door. "Umm, what's so funny?" he questions, pointing at Naruto and Temari.
"Konoha shinobi," I mutter. Kankuro nods his head like that explains everything. "Naruto, do want us to help you build your identity as a mercenary?" I offer. He nods his excitedly.
^w^ !TIME SKIP SASUKE'S POV! ^w^
We waved goodbye to the sand siblings and made our three day long walk back to Konoha. The first hours passed in chatter, but soon fell into an awkward silence. "What if Kitsune was Naruto, Kakashi-sensei?" I whisper. He seemed to have thought quite a bit before responding. "Then we might be in deep trouble," he whispers back. I nod slowly and we continue our walk back.
TSUNADE'S POV
"You failed to locate Naruto, failed to bring him back, and couldn't fix our alliance," I list off, in front of the three teams. "Either Gaara lied or told the truth. But either way we have officially lost Naruto." I stood up and walked towards the window. 'Let's just hope we haven't made an enemy of Naruto.' I look around my office and sigh. 'It was a really bad idea to banish him.'
GAARA'S POV
I look at the giant stack of papers. Naruto told me the secret to paperwork was 'shadow clones'. My office door flung open, revealing Naruto waving a scroll. "Panda-chan! Panda-chan! Look at this!" he cried, tossing me the scroll. I open it up and read it. After a couple minutes I look back up a Naruto. "Wow, this is impressive. Your first mission as a mercenary, good job!" I say, giving him back the scroll. "I know right! Soon all the nations will know my name!" he shouted, jumping up and down. "What's going on?" Temari asks, walking in behind Naruto. "I heard some commotion."
"I got my first mission as a mercenary!" Naruto shouts, like a child.
"Really! That's great Naruto!" Temari exclaims. Naruto continues jumping around. Naruto runs over and sits on a part of my desk that isn't covered in papers. "Gaara, I can still live here right, if you want I can get an apartment after I earn a little more money..." Naruto mumbles, his head facing the ground. I gently held Naruto's chin and lifted it. "Naruto, it's a pleasure to have you here, so you can stay with us," I reassure. Naruto nods. He jumps off the desk and stands up. "I think I'll leave for my mission and I'm not sure when I'll come back, so see ya Gaara!" And with that, Naruto disappeared in a cloud of sand. I sigh as I begin writing again.
