:please stay safe while reading! :changbin felt like he couldn't breathe.
trapped in a cold, dark basement; the epitome of his thoughts at the moment. who would've thought, envisioned it to play out like this?
he swallowed the lump in this throat while glancing up, occasionally at the window that placed itself starkly on the the wall.
this feeling..tormented but at peace, scared but relieved, the voices soft but their words so loud; so thunderous.
changbin had felt it before. of course he had. the times where his family, his members: the people most dear to him had hurt him, sometimes unintentionally but the others, not as close.
changbin knew what had to be done. his breaths had calmed down, his head and empty shell; devoid of any thoughts. waiting and just anticipating any that may come, any oncoming impact ready to be met and faced.
that's why, with shaking fingers; he held his phone, staring down at it. a call was made and soon, changbin got up from his place in the basement, relief spreading through him knowing that at least one of his members knew, his leader knew.
a newfound determination sparked in his eyes. the feeling was back now, but in a different form. he knew what had to be done.
seo changbin the man you are...

stray kids were known for their well, unique way of solving their missions.
every single time there was a mission that had to be completed, something that had to be stolen, anyone that had to be interrogated; the number of deaths were minimised as much as possible.
sure, it was quite true that they had a lot of hostages, that was due to the people who'd actually committed wrongdoings. they were entirely to blame for their own deaths.
basically, stray kids didn't really actively seek out people to go after. they did what their clients told them to and killed thise who'd managed to hurt their members and the ones who they were against.
emotions meddled in their workfront. an unnecessary distraction that ruined both their motive and the way they were seen by others and the way they saw themselves.
at the start of their line of work, just during their first few missions hyunjin had broken down in front of felix. his sensitive personality coming to light as he confessed how disgusted he was with himself. the thought that lingered in his head whenever he stared down at another person who knew their fate, the expression their face as the awaited their death.
he'd cried after that. hyunjin did cry a lot; at the series they watched, the occasional argument that rang out late at night; even photos of his dog that he'd have to keep at his parents house.
he'd never cried like this.
his sobs wracked from his chest with an impending force that he couldn't keep up with. when he'd cried into felix's hands, he kept on berating himself. wondering on how he would live with a conscience that couldn't even recover, cursing his sensitivity all the way.
felix had been at a loss for words. this- hyunjin was one of the strongest people he knew. kept on a smile in the most hard and harsh situations. his heart was easily maimed but it was so strong, so steadfast and brave. that's what made him so tough. that's what made him brave.
felix couldn't do anything but hold hyunjin at that moment, tears threatening to pour out of his eyes hearing his friend's heartbreaking cries. he was pretty sure that the entire gang could hear the scene, thankful that they hadn't come up; all of them remembered that hyunjin needed his privacy in his most low moments.
