Chapter 5: Game Night

Whimpu POV-

"Alright, ready?", Tari said, visibly ready to go

"I'm ready!", I said in response

The game was starting, it was me and Kirby vs Tari and Yoshi. "3...2...1... GO!" the game said

"Time to start this with a front smash attack," I said, as I had Kirby do just that

Kirby kicked at Yoshi, but Yoshi ate Kirby and turned him into an egg. Yoshi then kicked Kirby back, doing damage

"Oh no..." I thought to myself, as Tari celebrated an early lead

"Alright, no more messing around!" I said, as I leaned back and adjusted my glasses

Kirby ran at Yoshi with full force. Yoshi tried to eat Kirby again, but Kirby dodged and found himself on the other side of Yoshi

Yoshi tried to use a backwards kick, but Kirby jumped up and used a stone drop, doing good damage

"Ah! Oh no!" Tari said aloud

"Now we're getting somewhere!", I said to myself

I noticed that Tari looked worried, though I just shrugged it off and got back to playing

Kirby got payback on Yoshi and ate him, gaining the Yoshi power-up. Yoshi kicks at Kirby, but Kirby dodges it. Kirby used a stone drop, but Yoshi blocked it and ate Kirby. Yoshi then proceeded to kick Kirby into space, giving Tari a 3:2 lead

"Aha! One down, two to go!" Tari said, ever-so sure of herself, causing me to get serious. "Alright, it's time to lock in", I thought to myself

Kirby, now invincible for a moment, charged at Yoshi with a kick. Yoshi blocked this, and tried to distance itself from Kirby, but I wasn't letting Yoshi get away. Once invincibility was off, Yoshi came at Kirby with a full force egg roll. But I saw this coming, and had Kirby charge up a hammer attack, sending Yoshi right to space, tying the score

"How was it that you put it: one down, two to go?" I said to Tari with a slightly smug tone, causing her to get annoyed

Tari looked back at the screen with a look of determination. I could tell she was locking in, so I did the same

Yoshi goes for a kick attack at Yoshi, but Kirby dodges it and lands a small hammer attack. Kirby attempted to land another hammer attack, but Yoshi dodged it and ate Kirby. Yoshi proceeded to kick the egg, doing effective damage

"Oh shoot!" I said to myself, at the same time Tari said "I'm winning this!" with a fiery determination in her eyes

"So she's good at dodging, and she's good at attacking... but she lack anticipation", I thought to myself

Realizing this, I put a smile onto my face and knew how I was going to win this. "Correction: I'm winning this!" I said aloud

Yoshi tried to kick Kirby from behind, but Kirby dodges this. Kirby dodges another kick from the front, finding himself just behind Yoshi. Yoshi turns around and tries to eat Kirby again, but Kirby dodges this and finds himself behind Yoshi yet again. Kirby then grabs Yoshi

"HUH???", Tari said, visibly surprised

Kirby launches Yoshi off the platform, giving Whimpu a 2:1 lead

I noticed Tari had a look of not just determination, but also a look of anger on her face. I wondered why she'd get so upset over a game, but I chose to ignore it and lock back in

Kirby launches an upwards cut attack at Yoshi. Yoshi tried to dodge this, but ultimately fails. Yoshi rolls at Kirby, but Kirby slams Yoshi with a hammer swing, taking Yoshi out and settling the match. Whimpu has won 2:0

I began to celebrate, but Tari stayed silent, visibly holding onto her controller tightly. She started shaking a bit. I was slightly scared to do anything, but I chose so speak up

"Uh... hey Tari" I said, in a timid tone, "that was a good game-"

Tari jumped up and slammed her controller onto the ground. "NO!!! Why can't I win, JUST ONE TIME!?!", she said, with a level of anger in her voice I never imagined she could have

"Uh, T-Tari?", I said, with my tone changing from timid to a more fearful sound, "are you ok?"

"GO AWAY!!!", she screamed at me, "I don't need your help, I just wanted to win, JUST ONCE!!!"

By this point, she looked like she was about to cry

"T...Tari?", I said to her

She must have noticed my worried tone and look, because just after I said that, her look of anger and rage turned to a look of guilt and sorrow

"I... I-I..." Tari said

"I'm so sorry!", Tari says, as she runs back into her room, trying to cover the tears in her eyes

After hearing the door slam, I took a moment to calm myself, took a deep breath, and chose to stand up

"Come on, Whimpu", I thought to myself, "it's time to boss up."

The Writer's Talking-

Sheesh, talk about a crazy gamer rage. I wonder what's got Tari so upset over losing ;)
