Chapter 12: Final Boss (pt. 2)

Tari POV-

Because I was losing to Evelyn in a 3:2 lead, I knew I had to keep calm and lock in. When she fired KKR's Final Smash, I knew exactly what to do in order to maintain an advantage

KKR and Yoshi ran at each other. KKR fired its Final Smash, launching itself at Yoshi... but I had Yoshi dodged behind it at the last second

"What?!?!?", Evelyn said in reaction to what I had done, which also shocked everyone else in the audience

During the shock, I had Yoshi follow up with a charged roll attack, hitting KKR just as his Final Smash had stopped, and followed up with a hard kick

"Try as you might, Evelyn", I said aloud, "but this match isn't over yet!"

"Grrr", a sound Evelyn made

Yoshi ran up to KKR and used a kick attack, but KKR countered with a punch, followed up with a grab, and proceeded to pummel Yoshi and send him afar. Yoshi is now nearing the red

KKR then followed up with a cannon blast, but Yoshi jumped over it and charged a rolling attack, hitting KKR. Yoshi then followed up by eating KKR and kicking the egg, putting KKR in the red

"Just gotta keep this up...", I thought to myself

Whimpu POV-

"That's right Tari, keep it up!", I shouted, as the others cheered her on as well

"I hope she can win this...", I said to myself quietly

"She'd better win", said the voice of a woman to my left, much to my surprise, it was Belle, "or I'd have made Evelyn throw a fit in the beginning round for nothing."

"B-Belle? What are you doing here?", I asked

"Yeah, aren't you Tari's rival or something?", Bob asked

"Perhaps", she replied, "but if there's anything that'd ever get me to root for Tari, it's the fact that she's facing that spoiled brat named Evelyn."

She looked at Evelyn, as did I, and we both saw a drop of sweat forming on the side of her head

"That girl needs to be humbled", Belle said, with a slight bit of anger in her tone, "and I mean hard."

I'd have questioned further, but it's hard not to get why she of all people would root for Tari in this case, and it was nice to have an old work friend from the anti-cast cheering as well

"So, it seems like you've grown a pair since we last met", Belle said, just after sitting next to me, "did Tari fix you up well?"

I blushed a bit, knowing exactly what she was talking about and seeing the slight smirk in her face

"Y-yeah!", I replied, just before looking back at Tari

"She's pretty great...", I said, with a soft voice

"That's good to hear", Belle said after a bit of giggling . "I always thought my two favorite losers would be neat together", she followed with, as she rubbed my elbow a bit, causing me to blush even more

I nodded, and looked back at the game. Tari will win, I just know it...

Tari POV-

KKR threw his crown, but Yoshi ate the crown and kicked the egg back at him. However, KKR counted this with a cannonball and threw the crown again. Yoshi jumped up, evading the attack, but KKR met Yoshi with a punch, putting him into the red

"Time to give up, blue", Evelyn said, with an incredibly smug tone, "even someone as dumb as you should know that you have no shot."

By this point, I was getting angry. I was ready to snap at her and tell her to shut up... but that wouldn't be the best way to use my anger against her, not if I want to win this match

"You know what, Evelyn?", I said, "Maybe if you stopped trying to kick everyone else down and focused on your own success, you'd actually have something to fight for other than your superiority complex."

"Excuse me?!?", she replied in anger

"You keep telling me to give up and that I will never succeed", I said, "but I'm not giving up because I'm not fighting to feel like I'm better than anyone!"

"I'm fighting because I owe it to everyone who's counting on me to see this through to the end!", I said with conviction, "I'm fighting because I have to prove to myself that I'm strong enough to push through even the worst things that come my way, and never give up until the very end!"

"You want me to stop this so badly?", I said, with high energy and conviction, "Them why don't you get your head back into the battle, shut up, and just DO IT!!! Because that's the only way I'm giving up!"

"RAHHH!!!", she yelled, "FINE! So be it!"

KKR blasted his cannonball and followed up by charged at Yoshi, but Yoshi ran the opposite direction and retaliated with a rolling attack. KKR tried to suck Yoshi into the cannon, but Yoshi dodged it, ate KKR, and finished him off by kicking the egg, settling the score

"The score is now 2:2!", the announcer said, "But Tari is still in the red! So this underdog's not safe just yet!"

"WHAT?!?!", Evelyn yelled. She then looked at me, seeing my slightly smug and amused face

"You were saying?", I asked, with a smirky tone

"I will destroy you!!!", Evelyn yelled

KKR charged at Yoshi, but I knew better than to attack an opponent while they were invincible. I dodged and evaded

"Looks like this fight isn't over just yet...", I said, before I put my attention back into the game, and prepared to lock in

Writer's Talking-

Dang, guess that spoiled princess isn't as high and mighty as she thought. Who knew the power of a reason to fight would be enough to send a goon off the edge?
