Rimuru's POV:
A lot of time has passed since Rimuru and Nasuada started their training—exactly 8 years—and much has happened, especially in the last few months. There are rumors of a new Dragon Rider and that the elf Aria and her companions have been captured. I thought we should send a search party to rescue the elves, including me, so I asked Ajihad about it. The party was supposed to leave today. I was surprised he allowed me to join so easily; I assumed I would have to pester him for weeks, but this was much simpler.

"Rimuru, have you packed your things for the journey?" some guy from the party asked.
"Yes, I have. I just need to grab them," Rimuru replied.
"Then get them; we're leaving any moment now," said the guy from the party.

Hearing that, I made a 180-degree turn and sprinted off. When I arrived in my room, I immediately grabbed my luggage and ran to the meeting point. Once there, I took the horse assigned to me and joined the party, which was just about to depart.

(I don't feel like writing the journey, so I'll skip to the important parts.)

"Here we'll set up camp for the night," said the leader of the party. "Our supplies are almost depleted from traveling through the desert. We need to send out some hunters to replenish them, while the others help set up the camp. So, for the hunt, Peter, Tailer, Leo, Rimuru, Kevin, Basti, Heiko, and Ivarage will go."

For some reason, a cold shiver ran down my spine when Ivarage's name was mentioned. But it didn't matter; at least we didn't have to hunt in groups because we're already skilled enough individually. I took my bow, even though I wouldn't need it since I'm better at hunting with magic.

I distanced myself from our camp and reached a river where I saw two deer. I used magic to throw a stone at their heads, killing them instantly. As I bent over the two deer, I noticed something white in the river. I wanted to leave it alone, but it seemed to magically attract me. Using magic, I lifted it out of the river and saw that it was a smooth, polished white stone. I decided to keep it because it looked beautiful.

I then made my way back to the camp, but there was a problem—I didn't know where it was. I was lost. Well, it didn't matter much since I had a rough idea of our destination, as we navigated by the sun. I walked in the direction where we believed the elves were. The forest gradually opened into a clearing, and in the distance, I saw a building being attacked by a dragon.
