A few hours have past since Jason and Simon became Shifty's caretakers.

The little girl from before, Lucy, was reunited to her mother. It was a nice reunion for the most part, but it also felt bittersweet. The entire time, ever since Simon came back with Ice Cream Sandwiches—Shifty had a frown on his face. The beings ears were down, and they never spiked back up to symbolize interest or happiness. It was concerning for the most part, especially questioning for Jason.

As of now, Shifty and Jason were being carried by Simon. The both of them were thrown over his shoulder as he hopped from roof to roof.

"Seriously, what the hell happened when you left those two to come get me?" Jason questioned, being used to this embarrassing position.

"You think I know? The big guy probably got a bit attached to the girl. That's the best I can think of." Simon answered.

Jason looked over to Shifty, noticing how much more motionless he was. He seemed to be in their own world, not even questioning what the hell he was being carried to.

"Home Sweet Home!" He said, walking up the stairs. Once he made it to the front door, he dropped Jason on the floor.

The smoker grunted as he landed on the floor. He recovered easily, but he rubbed the side of his head as he glared up at Simon.

"Thanks for the safe landing." Jason said with a sarcastic tone.

Simon grinned, "You're welcome!" He replied, fishing in his pocket for the house key.

Jason sighed before looking back at Shifty. The being wasn't confused about where he was being taken; he didn't even glance at the house to get an idea. He just kept his head down, staring at the wooden floors as Simon searched for the house key. Simon pulled his hand from his pocket, but he had no key in tow.

"Damn, it's probably my other pocket..." Simon muttered. "I got to set you down, buddy..." The maroon haired male said, letting down Shifty in a much less abrupt matter than he did Jason.

The mutant didn't even dare stop his fall.

He just let himself fall on the hardwood. He got up eventually, staying in a crouched position as he continued to mope—looking down at the wooden floors before looking up at the sky.

Jason observed the being's movements.

To him, it didn't do any good to ask the mutant what was wrong. As far as he know, Shifty doesn't seem know any form of English at all. As said, the only thing him or Simon can think of was that he's missing Lucy.

Or it could be that he misses his home?

But when he left, he didn't look that bothered by it. He looked curious, dazzled if anything.
