Blake had ran off as soon as we entered Beth's house, looking for Kenny. I lagged behind and went to the living room instead, taking Clara out of her car seat and putting her diaper bag in it before making my way to the backyard with her.

"Hey," I said as I stopped next to Beth. "This really turned out amazing." I sat the gift bag that I held on the table, shifting Clara in my arms.

"I know," Beth said, looking at all the activities that were currently taking place in her backyard. "Anyways, give me baby Clara." She gasped, holding her hands out as Clara leaned forward causing me to hand her over.

"I never asked if.." I glanced around, making sure anyone wasn't close enough to hear. "Gang dude ever contacted you about his boy." I raised an eyebrow, watching as my daughter played with Beth's hair.

"Nope," Beth said.

I watched as Annie and Ruby walked over to us, Annie coming over to my side and wrapping an arm around my shoulder. She leaned close enough so that we could all hear her, "What the hell is Boomer doing here?"

Beth frowned, looking around until she finally saw him. "I have no idea, he shouldn't be here. Is he taking pictures?" She gritted out.

"Pay him no mind," I said, waving my hand in his direction. "Do you want me to tell him to leave?"

Beth sighed, handing Clara back to me. "No, I'm going to actually do the cake now." She opened Kenny's cake and put the candles on it before calling everyone over.

Everyone had their kids next to them as we all sang Kenny a happy birthday. I kissed the top of Clara's head, and smoothed down Blake's messy hair from the bounce house.

We all clapped as we finished, "I wish daddy could live at home again." Blake said, blowing out his candles.

I cringed, watching the faces of Beth and Dean. It was super quiet as Kenny blew out his candles, the kids all happy for him.

Movement to the left side of me caught my eye and it seemed as if all my girls were already looking as well. There he stood, arms crossed behind his back like he owned the place.

I shook my head at Beth, holding my hand up to state that I had it. I handed Clara over to Annie whose hand grabbed my arm.

"I got it," I raised my eyebrows before huffing and walking over to the gangleader, leading him into the house and to the kitchen.

"You can't just pop up," I leaned against the counter as Rio walked around the kitchen, taking it in. "There are kids here, parents here." I continued.

He shifted to where I could see his gun. "You brought a gun?" I harshly whispered, walking over to him.

He hummed, turning around to face me. "That's your kid out there?" He titled his head.

"What's it to you? You already tried to help my son become a mathematician." I shook my head crossing my arms over my chest. "What do you want?"

He walked closer to me, his eyes dragging up my body. "I came to pick up my boy." He stopped in front of me.

I chuckled, dropping my crossed arms. "Your boys not here. He ran off with my sister's car after he held a gun to our face," I stated. "Thanks for that, that just adds more money."

He jerked his head back, "What money?"

I raised my eyebrows, leaning my head forward and stepping closer. "The money you owe us? I'm sorry am I speaking gibberish?" I sassed, my face scrunching up in confusion.

"Nah, you get paid when you do the job."

I tilted my head, the confusion from my face and my mind never leaving. What the hell is he talking about?

"We did. We did the job, it's not our fault your boy ran off." I dryly laughed, pointing a finger to my point.

He shook his head, "That's what you're not understanding. I put him in your hands. You get paid when you do the job."

"He had a fucking gun pointed at us! What do you think we were going to do? Tassel with him?" I angrily asked the gang-leader.

"What did you think this was?" He dryly chuckled.

"We tried," I said firmly.

He stepped closer, his eyes holding irritation. "I don't give a damn if you tried. You gotta win bitch." He sternly said.

I glared at him, "Okay."

"Yeah," He nodded his head a few times, backing away from me and towards the door but not before turning around to me one last time. "You look good by the way, Mama."

I huffed as he patted the door frame before exiting, Beth coming in the door behind me shortly after. "What did he say? What happened?"

I sighed, never turning around. "We're not getting paid. Apparently we didn't finish the job." I turned around, shaking my head at my older sister. "We should've never took it in the first place Beth."

"I understand that but—"

I scoffed, cutting her off. "You don't understand. We made a mistake robbing that grocery store and we were finally out, at least I thought we were until you threw us under the bus, Beth. What the hell?"

I walked away from her, my hand placed in the doorknob ready to open it. "I'm sorry but we need that money, Val." Beth asserted.

"Don't you think I know that, Beth?" I spun around to face her, holding my arms out. "Let this go, please."

I turned back around, pulling the door open and walking out. I immediately made eye contact with a curious Ruby and Annie, shaking my head a bit before walking over to them to let them know what was happening.

"We didn't do the job, so we don't get the money." I whispered. "I honestly don't care, I just want out." I shrugged, holding my arms out for my daughter that was still in her auntie Annie's arms.

"But that was money," Annie whined.

"Let it go," I repeated to her what I said to Beth.

Ruby sighed and nodded, "She's right. Let this go."
