THERESE'S POV

I ran towards the gate when I saw Xavier was about to press the doorbell.

"Good morning," he greeted me first.

"Good morning. Get inside," I offered him to enter my house.

It's been a month since the incident happened and so far, aside from my academics giving me so much stress, I've seen the changes in our lives.

Madalas kaming sabay ni Xavier na pumasok sa school dahil nadadaanan niya naman daw ang village and why not walk together to school.

"Here," inabot nito ang isang bouquet ng mga bulaklak.

I'm in a state of confusion but I still accepted it.

"Thanks for these."

The flowers that were wrapped in brown paper are asters and chrysanthemum. They're obviously just freshly picked. Did he plant these himself?

"Ako nagtanim niyan sa garden ni Lola," sambit nito habang naglalakad kami papasok ng bahay.

My heart fluttered because he gave me such beautiful flowers that he planted himself. There was one time he mentioned that he'll pursue biology with specialization in plant botany. I really thought it suits him the best. I just didn't expect that he'd give me freshly picked flowers.

Ever since we've become real friends, we're slowly opening up with each other. Minsan pa nga mga random lang na bagay, but he still annoys me most of the time.

"By the way, I can't walk you home later, after school."

Now that we're inside, I told him to sit down for a minute while I'm preparing my things for school.

"Why naman?" I asked.

"I have my passport appointment later, eh."

I nodded and then he continued, "Lola's planning to go to Japan this Christmas break and she wants me to go with her."

"What are the odds," biglang bulalas ko at napahawak pa sa 'king labi. "We're going to Japan, too. I'll go there with Dad and his new girlfriend."

"Gaya-gaya ka naman," he grinned.

"Ang kapal naman mukha mo, Xavier. For your information, we're going to spend our Christmas in Ishikawa prefecture." Then I crossed my arms.

"I told you, gaya-gaya ka talaga." Umiling pa ito, acting like he's so disappointed.

So, they're going to Ishikawa, too? What are the odds!

I rolled my eyes, "Whatever."

We're now walking to school. We're almost at school when I noticed that he got a new phone.

"You have a new phone," I pointed out.

He flapped his new phone on his hand, "Lola gave it to me. Ang mahal nga, eh. I was expecting an android, but she gave me this instead." We halted at the sidewalk.

"We have the same model of phone," I stated at napahawak ako sa 'king bewang. "Now tell me, sino kaya ang gaya-gaya sa 'ting dalawa."

"Fine, ako na." he tried to mimic the way I rolled my eyes.

I tried to sneak a peek from his phone and it looks so plain.

"Have you ever thought about changing your wallpaper?"

Umiling ito, "Nope, why?"

"It's so plain. Can I borrow your phone for a while?"

Without a second thought, he instantly gave it to me. Pinindot ko ang gallery and to my surprise, kaunti lang 'yong pictures at wala siyang selfie or picture niya roon. I laughed in amusement when I saw the flower pictures that he took.
