There's just something therapeutic about the sounds of waves in the middle of the night, accompanied by an alcoholic drink, clear sky and silent atmosphere. Maloi found herself deep in thoughts as she took a swig of her drink, it wasn't anything strong just enough to give her warmth in the cold air.

A shiver ran down her spine as another gush of wind went past her, she sighed and looked at the sky, thinking about her life choices. A warm blanket suddenly envelops her shoulder causing her to look at the girl behind her, Jhoanna. She smiled at the girl and offered her drink which the latter declined.

“Bakit ka andito? Maaga pa tayo bukas" Jhoanna asked as she sat beside her best friend. Yeah tomorrow, Jhoanna’s getting married to their friend, Colet.

“Wala, hindi ako makatulog eh, kaya ito" she answered and raised her bottle before taking a drink again. Jhoanna just smiled and leaned her head to the older girl's shoulder. She deserves to know, Maloi thought to herself as she looked at the girl looking out at the sea.

“Jho” she started, her voice hesitant. Maybe she's gonna regret it later on, she doesn't even know why she's saying it just now when everything is already too late, but she deserves to know. Jhoanna just hummed, taking the other's hand in her as a form of support, Maloi’s breath hitched at the contact before slowly relaxing, squeezing her hand.

“May sasabihin ako sayo, wag ka sanang magagalit" she started. Jhonna looked at her in the eye before smiling. “I promise" she said and squeezed the other's hand as well.

Flashback.

“Jho, flowers" Maloi said with her hand outstretched, holding a bouquet of pink lilies, Jhoanna looked at her with a raised brow before hesitantly taking it.

“Kanino naman galing toh?" She asked her best friend who sat down beside her.

“Sa kaibigan ko, crush na crush ka nun eh" Maloi chuckled.

Jhoanna just looked at her, inspecting her best friend. Jhoanna gets tons of admirers from different sections, sometimes different schools but it's the first time that her friend is helping someone out. Maloi absolutely despised those who asked her if she can help them with her best friend, so being given flowers from someone through Maloi is a first. She just shrugged it off and smiled.

“Pasabi thank you, I appreciate it" She smiled sincerely at her friend before smelling the flowers, Maloi just looked at her with admiration in her eyes.

“Makakarating" she whispered to herself. She deserves to know, but not know.

Few months later

“Jhoanna oh, chocolates daw" Maloi said, placing the chocolates in front of her best friend. It's been months since the secret someone started giving her stuff. She's been begging Maloi to just tell her who it was but the girl kept mum.

“Alam mo, feeling ko talaga panget yang kaibigan mo kaya ayaw magpakita sakin eh" Jhoanna teased. Trying to get some sort of clue on who the sender is. Maloi looked at her, offended at the accusations thrown at her… not really at her but she doesn't know that.

“Hoy ang kapal mo, ang ganda ganda k—" Maloi stopped herself from talking as she realised what she was about to say. Jhonna looked at her with a raised brow as she waited for the girl to continue.

“Che, basta maganda yung promise" Maloi said as she praised herself. I'll tell you someday, but not right now.
