“Ate Aiah, bakit ba kasi gusto mo uminom sa labas, pwede naman sa bahay na lang” Sheena asked while scratching her head as she's being pulled by the older girl inside a small bar.
“Wala gusto ko lang, tsaka ilang buwan ka na kasi hindi lumalabas" Aiah said as she tries find their friends already sitting in a small booth near a stage. The place wasn't really crowded, so she spotted them easily. The vibes of the place is nice, not many people are inside creating a cosy space and there's a small stage. Baka may tugtog mamaya, Sheena thought to herself.
“Aiah, dito" Maloi waved as soon as she spotted her two other friends. Aiah immediately pulled Sheena to sit beside them, now she's in between Maloi and Aiah, across from them is Gwen and Stacey.
"Buti napalabas mo yang si Sheena, Ate Aiah” Gwen said as she pointed at the girl in front of her.
"Syempre, ako pa ba?” Aiah said with a smug grin and raised her hands up to get the waiter's attention. “Order lang kayo guys, libre ko na" Aiah said with a smile. Maloi and Stacey cheered and started ordering as well. Soon the conversations started flowing between them.
A genuine smile managed to land on Sheena's lips as she listened to their endless stories and banters. It's been a while since she last saw the girls, due to their own busy schedules and Sheena isolating herself.
“So, Shee bakit ka nawala ng isang buong buwan?" Stacey asked, as she took a swig of her beer. Sheena sighed, it's inevitable, she needs to tell them.
“Wala, broken hearted eh" she started with a tight smile, those words still felt bitter coming out her mouth. The girls turned to her in shock, besides Gwen as she was the one Sheena called crying and on the verge of panic attack.
“HA?!” The three girls shouted simultaneously, heads turned at the commotion causing for Sheena's face to redden and earning the girls a smack. “Ayan kasi napaka OA niyo" Gwen said with a laugh as she took a sip of her beer. Aiah just rolled her eyes at her before turning back to Sheena.
“Kelan pa? Anong nangyari?" She asked, voice gentle, trying to see if it's still a sensitive topic for the younger, but Sheena being herself she just laughed and started talking. “Last month lang, kaya nga bigla akong nawala diba" she joked for a bit trying to appear unaffected by everything.
"Ayos lang ba itanong why you guys broke up?" Maloi asked as she reached for the girl's hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, Sheena sighed. Her eyes starting to betray her as tears started forming, she faked a laugh before quickly wiping it off.
"Wala kasalanan ko rin. I guess it just didn't really work out and we had to separate, Ewan ko, basta ang alam ko, kasalanan ko” she said. The girls look at her with sad eyes as she gets pulled into a hug by Maloi and next thing she knows she's being suffocated by their love and affection.
"Napakaoa niyo talaga" she said and wiped the tears that she didn't even realise was falling until Stacey gave her tissues. She sighed and ended up thinking about the night they broke up.
Mikha and her have been distant for a while now, she doesn't know why but it seems like a huge wall suddenly appeared in front of them when Sheena started becoming busy with school. Being a student leader and a dean's lister, she had grades to maintain and Mikha didn't have that. As long as she passes and can graduate on time she's already happy.
“Sheena, ayos lang ba tayo?" Mikha asks as she's holding the girl's hand, Sheena is busy studying for her upcoming exams. “Yes babi, we're fine, why?" Sheena asked not sparing a glance at the other as her free hands were busy writing.
“Wala, kasi parang ang distant mo na sakin" Mikha said with a pout. Sheena turned to her and sighed. “Mikhs, madami akong ginagawa and I'm sorry if I can't give you the attention you need" Sheena said, voice exhausted with everything going on with her life. Studying, her parents who don't even act like parents. Miks? Not Babi? Hurt and confusion crossed Mikha's mind.
