Moving was hard, especially if you're doing it alone, and Thank God Maloi wasn't alone. She has Aiah, her best friend, her one call away. She's currently waiting by the lobby of her apartment along with her boxes, she sighed as she glanced at her phone. Aiah hasn’t texted her back so that probably means she’s still stuck in traffic. She sighed and leaned her head at the back rest of the couch.
Why did she even want to move? Ahh of course her art block. It has been months since she last created a piece and she needs to start working on her mountains of projects that are piling up in front of her. That’s the thing about doing your passion for work, when you get burned out, it will hit you like a bitch.
She decided to look at her emails to make sure that she didn’t miss anything important that she can do while waiting for her best friend. As she scrolled down through her emails, her mind drifted to the girl who’s currently behind the wheels, her one call away.
Aiah was the one who suggested a change in scenery for her, when they were drinking in Maloi’s apartment.
“Eh kasi naman, ang dami kong project pero wala akong magawa kahit isa, nagtititigan lang kami ng canvas buong araw” Maloi ranted, voice filled with frustration of being stuck in a waiting game in front of her canvases, her eyes starting to tear up with the frustration.
“Hey” Aiah called her gently, holding her hand to get her attention. Maloi looked at her, eyes filled with vulnerability, that’s the thing with Aiah, Maloi can be vulnerable. “Do you want me to listen or do you want a solution?” Aiah asked.
“Listen first then give me advice later” Maloi answered as she was getting pulled to sit on Aiah’s lap. “Go on” Aiah said as she laid her head on Maloi’s shoulder, her hand wrapped on her waist. Maloi then started talking animatedly about her frustration with her art block, her hand moving as she speaks, something Aiah greatly adored about her.
She talked for about 30 minutes occasionally stopping to sip her drink or cry, Aiah held her through it all and stayed true to her words, she listened. “Okay na ko, advice please?” Aiah chuckled as Maloi now turned to her, her arms still on the younger girl’s waist.
“A change in scenery” Aiah started, Maloi looked at her puzzled, she was never an outdoorsy person, very opposite of the girl in front of her who goes on a hike every month just because she wants to, Maloi shivered at the thought of going to a mountain just to paint.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Aiah said with a chuckle. “You don’t have to climb mountains, that’s not what I mean, just move near me” She continued and Maloi didn’t need much convincing after that, Aiah lived at the edge of the city, a lot less crowded where Maloi is currently living. There weren't many cons on the change, living near Aiah would surely make her life easier.
Suddenly Maloi’s eyesight was obstructed. She chuckled before grabbing the hand that was covering her eyes. It's soft and gentle. “Aiah” Maloi called out and suddenly a kiss landed on her forehead before the hand was removed. Aiah was looking at her with that smile, the smile that made her heart go crazy.
“Ang tagal mo naman” Maloi teased as she got up and gave the other girl a hug. Aiah chuckled before wrapping her arms around the other girl “Sorry na, ang traffic kasi" she said and placed a kiss on her cheeks before turning to the boxes. “Tara?" Aiah asked, Maloi nodded and started carrying the box towards Aiah's car. It wasn't her usual car as Aiah is using a pickup truck, she's using a Ford F-150 Raptor R, one of her collections.
“Aww nilabas mo talaga toh for me?" Maloi asked as she looked at her with puppy eyes, Aiah chuckled as she rolled her eyes. “Wag kang OA, ayan lang kasi pickup truck ko" she said and opened the back to start placing Maloi's things inside. It took them a good 15 minutes to load everything up, the moving company would handle the rest of Maloi's stuff that they can't bring.
