Bruce's pov:
Finney and me were walking around the camp. He had said he wants to talk just us, so I agreed. I wanted to be away from Vance anyway. I think he knew something was up and I could tell he was thinking about what to say to me, without it coming out wrong.
"Bruce? Did something happen between you and Vance?" He asked me, his voice calm and collected.
"Yeah." I looked at my feet as he put his arm around me for support.
"Are you ok?" I nodded.
"I'll be fine." He looked at me and smiled. I didn't really understand why he made it seem like a big deal. This was between me and Vance. But I guess I would do the same for him and Robin.
"Alright. But if you want to talk to me you can."
"Thanks." I smiled and he hugged me tight. Past me would think I'm crazy for saying this, but I was sort of glad my parents dumped me here. If they didn't, I wouldn't have gotten so close to Finn and the others. So in that aspect, I was greatful to spend my summer here.
"Let's go now. I'm hungry for dinner." We walked to the mess hall and grabbed some food. I saw all the others sat at the table together and my stomach dropped when I saw Vance.
"Finn. I'm gunna go find somewhere else to sit." I looked to where my sister and her friends were sitting. There was one seat free. Even though I wouldn't want to willingly sit next to Amy, it would still be better than facing Vance at the moment. I tried to move but Finney stopped me.
"Come on Bruce. You don't even have to talk to him, just sit with us." I contemplated it in my head. He probably would even try and talk to me. So I agreed. I could feel his eyes on me as soon as I sat down but I chose to ignore him. "Hey guys. Sorry we got a little distracted." Finney shrugged.
"Don't worry about it mi amour." I watched as Robin continued to fly complements at Finney in Spanish, seeing how flustered he could get. Someone from across me kicked my leg from under the table. I looked up and it was Vance.
He mouthed the words "Can we talk?" His eyes looked sad but meaningful. I shrugged and he looked down in defeat. I felt bad. I quickly ate a few bites and left before I forgot what I was mad about.
(Time skip)
Late, during the night I got woken up by Finney repeating my name aggressively shaking me, trying to wake me up. I groaned in exhaustion as I tried to get him off of me.
"Finn. Let me sleep." I rolled over onto my side but he wouldn't quit it.
"Vance is missing." He whispered under his breath, trying to let the others sleep. It was like something clicked and I jumped up. Where could he have gone? He better not get in trouble.
"Fuck. Ok. Let's go." We both left the cabin and began to search the area, whilst also avoiding the adults.
"I think he went this way." He grabbed my arm and rushed me off to the left, next to the lake. I saw Vance standing there. He looked as if he had been waiting for us.
"Sorry Bruce. I lied." I looked back at Finney with confusion. I was too tired for this shit. "You guys need to talk. Please don't be mad."
"It's fine." He nodded and walked away to let us be alone. I moved closer to Vance but still kept a distance. "Hey."
"Hey Bruce." He looked nervous? Worried? I couldn't tell.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked, bluntly.
"You know what I said? I didn't mean it. At all. I know it's no excuse but I've been stressed out because." He stopped for a second, looking into my eyes. "I love you." My jaw snapped open and I didn't know what to say. Was he joking?
"You love me?" He nodded. "Me?" My face formed into a wide smile that I couldn't resist.
"Look, I know you don't love me back. I mean look at you then look at me." I practically lunged myself at him as a connected our lips together. Once he realised what was happening he eased into the kiss, his hands travelled all around my body as if he was making some soft of map. After a few seconds I pulled away.
"I love you too, Vance." His face lit up. He was so cute. "And don't ever think you're not good enough for me. Because it's the other way round." He shook his head.
"Shut up." He pulled me into a quick kiss before reaching into his pocket and getting something out. "Here. Have this." He gave me a small white box. When I opened it, it revealed an expensive looking chain.
"How did you get this? How much was it?"
"Don't be mad, but I stole it." I was about to say something but he stopped me. "Please. Just wear it." I nodded and he went behind me, clipping it on, just like in the movies. "Let's go now. Before we get caught." He grabbed my hand and we quickly went back to the cabin.
