Bruce was lied down flat on his stomach, reading his book. He liked reading. It was an escape from reality. Nothing else mattered except for what was happening in the book. Back at home, he would read when his father or school was too much for him. His favourite type of books were mostly romance and action. He liked the books that captivated him, made him feel like he couldn't put down the book, or he would miss something important.

"What you reading?" Vance walked closer to Bruce's bed, hovering over him. Vance was curious as to why Bruce's nose was always stuck in a book. He didn't see the big appeal. Books bored him half to death. What was the point of hearing about other people's worries when you have enough yourself? Bruce looked up at Vance.

"Night of the singing birds." He answered. Bruce could remember his mum getting it for him for Christmas. That was the only present he got. He didn't understand why. They were a rich family, and he had been working his ass off all year. Just for one list present. But he wasn't ungrateful. He's read it over 5 times.

"Sounds gay." Bruce rolled his eyes at the blonde. "What's it about?" Vance sat down next to him, peering over his shoulder.

"A girl doesn't want to marry this guy her family arranged her too." Vance nodded. Didn't sound that interesting to him.

"Hey, do you wanna sneak out tonight?" Vance suggested. Bruce closed his book and turned to face Vance, trying to tell if he was being serious.

"Why?" He asked.

"Why not?" Vance and Bruce didn't have a lot of time to themselves. Every time they took advantage of no one else around, someone always ruined it. He loved the others, but he just wanted some peace for a bit. Which was hard being around the chaotic group.

"Alright." Bruce agreed, hoping the stars would be out or outside not being too windy.

(Time skip)

Bruce and Vance sat near the cliff, enjoying the small breeze. Vance had a cigarette, half hanging from his lips. Bruce stared at him and how pretty he was for a guy. Vance looked over as he pulled the cigarette away from his mouth.

"This is exactly what I need. Some quiet and personal time with you." He exhaled some smoke as he finished the cigarette, putting it out on the ground. "And," He started. "It ain't too cloudy, which means you can see a lot of stars." Bruce looked up, seeing half the sky illuminated by bright white stars. He found it crazy how they were so visible, but so far away. Like years away. Vance was rambling on about something, but Bruce was too busy thinking about space. "Are you even listening to me?" Vance asked, snapping Bruce back into the world.

"Oh, no. Sorry. What were you on about?" Bruce felt bad. He didn't intend to ignore him. He just got lost in his train of thought. He does that a lot. Some people think he's trying to be rude, like his dad. But that really wasn't the case.

"Don't worry about it." Vance smiled. A genuine smile. Not a smirk or a fake smile. A real one. He couldn't help it when he was around Bruce. Bruce was making him act like a damm fool. "What were you thinking bout?" He asked curiously.

"How compared to the universe, we're smaller than ants. Practically electrons. That's how small we are. Yet we still feel so much. We're really unimportant. If the world disappeared, the universe would run the same. As if nothing had happened." Vance nodded, understanding.

"So basically, nothing really matters." Bruce looked to Vance, shaking his head softly, parts of his hair flowing behind him.

"To the universe, yes. But the earth. No." He reached for Vance's hand, giving it a tight squeeze. "Some things can destroy someone's entire world." Vance shuffled uncomfortably.

"Let's stop talking about that. It's creeping me out."

"Sorry." Bruce frowned. Maybe he was thinking too deep.

"I just want to relax and kiss my boyfriend under the stars." Vance smiled, placing a hand on Bruce's face. "No one to annoy us." Bruce grew a smile, his body leaning towards the other as their lips crashed together.
