Bruce's pov:
My eyes slowly fluttered open as I felt the morning wind blow against my face and could hear trees above me swaying. The harsh light hits my eyes, and I quickly close them again, taking a moment to compose myself. Had we really slept outside? I carefully sat up and realised Vance wasn't beside me. I looked down at myself, seeing I was wearing a dark blue hoodie that practically swallowed my body whole. He'd given me his hoodie? Where was he? I looked around me, finally spotting him standing at the edge of the cliff, smoking a cigarette. I stood up and made my way toward him.
"Vance?" He remained silent and kept staring forward. He must not have heard me. He didn't look like he was all there. I went behind him and wrapped my arms around him, resting my chin on his shoulder. His head moved slightly in my direction.
"Oh, you're finally up." He stated, and I hummed in reply. I closed my eyes once again, just listening to the sound of the camp morning. It was peaceful. No million different voices. Just the sound of nature. I loved times like this. It makes me wish I could stay here all the time and not go home.
"What time is it?" I asked curiously. The sun was rising, and I thought it would be a matter of time before everyone woke up and the camp came to life.
"Around five." He answered, sounding off. It was worrying me. I placed soft kisses against his neck and tightened my grip around him.
"Are you ok? You seem a little upset about something." He's always there for me when I'm upset, so I have to repay him. He takes a long breath, and there is a moment of silence between us.
"It's nothing." He discards it. I had a feeling it wasn't just 'nothing'.
"Vance. You can talk to me." He threw his cigarette off the cliff and frowned.
"Stop." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Stop what?" He turned his body around so he was facing me and grabbed my face with his hands, rubbing gently under my eyes.
"Worrying about me. I'm fine." I looked in his eyes with uncertainty. "I promise." I nodded, and he gave me a short but sweet kiss. "Let's go to the cabin before the councillors wake up." I let go of him, and we walked to the others. When we went in, we saw Billy, Griffin, and Finney laughing as they drew on Robins face with permanent marker whilst he was sleeping. He had a bunch of hearts probably from Finney, and one of the others drew a big penis on his right cheek. I covered my mouth to stop me from laughing.
"Good morning, guys." Griffin whispered as he tried his best not to laugh too loud that it woke Robin.
"He's going to flip when he wakes up, you know." Vance crossed his arms but smirked at the sight.
"Well, if no one tells him, he won't know. We want to see how long it takes until he realises." Billy explained, and we nodded. I'm not going to draw on his face, but I also don't mind acting like everything was normal.
"Your funeral." Vance sighed as he dumped himself on his bed. We all hear the alarm sound, and we race to our beds as we start to pretend that we just woke up as well. Robin looked to me and Vance, confused.
"When did you two get back?" He looked so stupid I couldn't help but smirk.
"Like thirty minutes ago." Vance shrugged.
"What were you even doing." I opened my mouth to answer, but Vance spoke before me.
"Fucked in a forest." My eyes grew wide as he had a smug smile.
"No, we didn't!" I scoffed at him. He had a thing for making things sexual for a joke. "We just slept out there." I corrected him, not wanting false information being told.
"Why would you want to sleep outside?" Finney scrunched up his face in judgement. He's not a massive outdoor person.
"We were just hanging out and fell asleep." I shrugged, standing up to get ready for breakfast. Vance's hoodie was really comfortable. It was big and baggy on me, which I liked as it kind of hid my body. It was also nice having something of Vance's. If he thinks he's getting back, he is hugely mistaken. Once everyone was ready, we left the cabin and headed for the mess hall, lining up.
"Ok. Am I going crazy or is everyone staring and laughing at me?" Robin frowned, obviously not enjoying the sudden attention. We all tried to contain our laughter as an adult quickly walked over.
"Robin Arellano. What is the meaning of all this." She waved her finger frantically around his face. You could tell he was confused.
"What do you mean?" He scowls. She huffed dramatically.
"Is this funny to you?" His face twists.
"No."
"Well, go to the bathroom, and I wash that filth off your face. You better be squeaky clean." She stormed away, leaving Robin even more confused than to begin with.
"Racist much." He scoffed.
"I don't think it's that." I laughed. "Just look in a mirror."
"I swear, if you guys have done something. You're all dead." He warned as he exited the line.
