Scene XV
Young America POV
For a week, Confederate and I have been sneak attacking on each other. I would destroy her room and makeup while she would try lighting my books on fire. Father only watched with amusement and I'm thankful he didn't join it yet.
I can tell he's on Confederate's side from the start. Even though she did cheat during our archery competition, she admitted her wrongs and promised not to do such things again. He believed her.
Mom also likes Confederate, but she realized that she has no benefit in protecting her. I'm happy, even though she won't help me.
My siblings are staying out of the conflict and only watching. Sometimes they would try stopping our fights while other times they would let us be. I really hate the interference because it always makes Confederate the victor.
Confederate is always winning. It's understandable because she's fit and stronger than me. But I can't let that happen. I need to defeat her somehow. How, though? It's impossible to beat her in a fist fight!
I rush into the park, knowing that Confederate is trailing me. I hide behind a tree and start climbing up using the branches. I watch as she enters the park, looking around for me with her smug grin. She knows she's winning and she will end me soon. I just need a victory. A victory to turn everything around. But how?
"Union, stop hiding and come out," Confederate chirps. "Your big sister wants to see you."
I swallow hard as she looks behind the bushes near me. I take a deep breath before letting go of the branches and lunge on her.
Thud
I pin her to the ground as she grunts in pain, trying to get out of my grasp. I hit her back causing her to curse and groan. I feel awful hitting her, but I need to be victorious. This is the first time I'm able to hit her ten—now twelve times!
Confederate struggles, growling angrily as she flips me over. I hastily get up, not wanting to get pinned to the ground by her. I kick her in the stomach which makes her cry in pain. "You little b*tch," she hisses, holding her stomach as she gets up.
She lunges at me and I fight back. I glare, "you will not win this fight. Promises can not be broken."
She scoffs, glaring at me with her flaming amber eyes. "I hate you! I will never love a sister like you!" She shouts, wrestling me to the ground. We roll around in the dirt, trying to best each other.
I wince when my back hits a sharp rock on the ground, so I make her roll over on her back. "China's right, you are heartless," I grumble in annoyance.
Oh no...
"What did you say?!" She kicks me in the stomach with all her might that I fly a few feet away from her. I slide on the ground, the dirt getting on my entire body. I feel my body ache as I try standing up, but failing to do so.
Confederate laughs wildly like Canada before walking towards me with a smile on her face. "Little Union. I am the winner. Never you!" She pounces on me, pinning onto my back. I struggle to get up, but she pushes my head down and sits on my back.
She giggles softly, playing with a strand of my dirty hair, twirling it around like how she'd used to when we were little. "You're a little brat, you know that?" She hums. I feel her start lifting up my shirt and I panic. I use all my strength to get up from the ground but she's too heavy.
I freeze when I feel something cold on my bare back. "Let me give you an artwork that you'll remember," she whispers softly.
The pain. It's unbearable. I bit my tongue as she began carving a knife into my flesh, digging it deep. Everything becomes more alert as my heart races, trying to pump more blood through my body. I feel trickles of blood dripping down my sides and the tears that pour out my eyes. I need to get away. I need to find safety.
