By the time I had made it out the door and down the street, I felt a familiar presence following behind me.
"Hey, you know storming off like that isn't cool right."
"Neither is plotting on your best friend without his knowledge."
"Yeah, but you're not my best friend. Chocho is, you're a close second though."
"Wow, Sarada you know you should've really became a therapist. Your social skills are truly remarkable."
"Hey I'm just being honest. No need for you to take that tone with me."
I stopped dead in my tracks, she was right I shouldn't have been so rude. I spun around to face her and grabbed her hand. She jumped for a second before quickly returning to her usual condescending facade.
"What are you doing?"
"I want you to come with me somewhere."
When I said that I swear I saw a blush run across her face for a moment.
"O-Okay, where are we going?"
Without saying another word I pull Sarada along with me. We head to an old abandoned house rooftop at the edge of the village.
After a short walk we had made it. Before I left the dinner I made sure to grab that new burger Shikadai had mentioned(what? You think I was gonna go and not try it out.) I actually grabbed 2 of them originally so I could give another to Kawaki when I got back home but that's too bad
We sat shoulder to shoulder looking over the village walls into the vast forest surrounding us. I handed the other burger to Sarada as I unwrapped mines and immediately stuffed my face.
"Hmm, thanks Boruto. How uncharacteristic of you."
I turned to her, mouth still full of the half chewed burger.
"And what's that supposed to mean huh? I'll have you know I actually grabbed the other burger for Kawaki so there."
"Please don't chew with your mouth open idiot. It's gross."
"Don't call me an idiot, jerk."
"Stupid."
"Salad."
"Du-salad? Did you really just call me salad?"
"Yeah and what about it?"
"Ugh, nothing, nevermind."
Sarada then took a big bite out of the burger. We sat there for a while, eating in silence and looking out at the forest. It wasn't an awkward silence or anything though, it was comfortable. I honestly could've stayed like that for a while.
A few more minutes passed and Sarada broke the silence.
"So why'd you bring me here Bolt?"
"Bolt? Where'd that come from haha."
"Well you called me Salad so I'm calling you bolt. There a problem with that?"
"Not at all Salad."
"Good, now answer my question."
"You're looking at the answer. The forest, the outside."
"You act like we never leave the village."
"Sure, but have we ever been allowed to leave the village on our own accord? Not just on a mission or school field trip?"
"I suppose not, but why would you. There's just no need for leaving."
I paused for a moment and turned to look at her. The wind started to pick up and her long dark hair that could almost pass as purple was flowing in the wind. Truth be told I was a little shocked at how good she looked.
I guess she caught me staring because she also turned to look at me. We locked eyes for a moment, a few moments... my heart went crazy. Wait wait wait, it can't be THAT can it?
We were just looking at each other, scanning each others faces looking at every detail. Until I finally snapped out of it and cleared my throat.
"S-sorry, let me continue."
"Y-yeahh, you do that..."
I stood up. "So basically, I want to do something kinda stupid. And was originally planning on asking someone else like Shikadai or Kawaki. BUT since you're here now I want to ask you."
"Why do I feel like it's something I'm going to want to say no to."
I sighed, "Well because it probably is."
"Out with it then."
I crouched down to Sarada. "I want you."
She blushed again, and stood up but as she did she tripped and bumped heads with me causing me to fall backwards.
"Oww Sarada, you have such a big head."
"H-hey it's your fault for saying something so strange like that. What do you mean you 'want me'"
"I meant that I want you to come with me outside the village, go camping with me and exploring. What the hell were you thinking?"
"Ohh... that's all it was then."
"YES, what else would I be asking! You're such a weirdo Sarada."
"Shut up Boruto, you need to be more clear with your words."
I, am so confused right now. What could she be talking about. Why does she have to be so strange.
"So, are you going to come with me. It could be good training, AND think about all the adventures we can have. If you're planning on becoming Hokage one day then you need to get your name out there somehow you know."
"I can see what you're trying to do.."
"Is it working?"
"Yes, yes it is." Sarada sighed
"Great, then I suppose I can expect you back in this same spot in a week."
"A week? Do you even have a plan on getting outside the village without being caught?"
"I actually do, just leave everything to me, take this week to say your goodbyes and pack a small bag okay."
"Okay then, I'm sure leaving this to you won't come back to bite me in the ass."
I let a smirk grow across my face, I can't believe it was that easy. Now I just have to say my goodbyes and wait.
I walked Sarada back home since it was starting to get late out, and made my way back to my house.
As I arrived at the front gate, I reached for the handle but just as I did, another hand had done the same.
It's my dad. Surprised he even left the house, after the fight he was bedridden for weeks.
"Hey son, you just making it home too huh."
"Yeah. Where'd you just come from?"
"The office, can't stay cooped up at home all day you know."
"Right, well come on then. Himawari is probably waiting up for you."
"Right."
